I was thinking and toying with ideas earlier, and wondered if one could combine aspects of normal minecraft with adventure mode. the main aim would be for more variety in adventure maps or RP environments/servers where a slightly more realistic (Yes, I am aware minecraft's purpose is not to be a realistic game. Exploding Green Things, anyone?) gamemode would be valuable.
The main changes that could be implemented would be thus:
1. A reduction in the number of hotbar spaces from 9 to 3. The three spaces would be separated, and each could take 1 type of item. The first would be a tool/weapon. The second would be a block, and the third, an item (Think stick, gold nugget, etc.) In order to access more than these three items, a character would have to access his backpack.
2. A reduction of backpack spaces from 27 to 9 or 18.
3. Item stacking: All placeable blocks are now non-stackable. Yes, now it will take FOREVER to build and mine, but this would come in handy in an RP atmosphere where characters cannot realistically carry enough stone to build an entire castle.
That would drastically ruin my PvP maps. I fail to see why this would make adventure mode any better than it is now.
Limiting inventory slots does not make the game more "realistic" or better in any way.

Before I say anything, the numbers are bothering me. Currently there are 9 hotbar slots and 27 inventory slots. Not 10 and 30.
On to the suggestion: I have no real reason to shoot it down since it's just a game mode and I'd never have to play it, all I can say is I would never play it, as this would be fairly annoying. I'd have to keep like, thirty chests at the entrance of my mine, have to keep running back to dump stuff into it while mining, and I'd have to keep running back and forth from the mine to my building area when building something. Minecraft is primarily a building game, and I Don't really like the idea of hindering it this much.
Ah, ok, let me fix those numbers real quick. Thanks for posting so fast. Yeah, it would definitely be a MAJOR hindrance, but it's meant more to be an expansion of Adventure mode, not a contraction of Survival.
This would probably be better as a standalone idea. Now then, *takes out P90* I have a few words for you.... Oh crap I'm out of ammo. Oh well. I don't really have anything bad to say anyways other than it would probably be better as a standalone idea.

All items now only stack to 10.
Any ideas? Comments, criticism?
