I had been playing minecraft and noticed that there were alot of ingredients, like flowers, or bonemeal, that could be used for potions but werent. i had already posted something like this before but now i think ive perfected my idea.
I had the idea that dyes could be used for making potions, which could be called colored potions. They would be like awkward potions, exept they could slightly effect the potion made out of them, depending on the color. I was also thinking of the effects being randomized slightly so they could have an upside or downside to them.
I know that these ingredients arent very magical or interesting, but what im trying to do is incorperate more potion types with what we already have in minecraft. Maybe we could add some other special ingredient to make them work? So anyways here are my ideas for a few of the colors for potions.
Red could be a Enhancer/Hinderer for any effect related to health or strength.
Yellow could be a Enhancer/Hinderer for any effect related to tools/weapons.
White could be an actual potion itself becouse bonemeal i think is a little more worthy of being a potion, so i was thinking it could be a type of fertilizer potion, (it would have to be a splash potion) and it could grow plants/increase growing rate in the splash radius.
Brown could be a Enhancer/Hinderer for anything related to the hunger bar, (if any effects are ever made) eg. slowing/increasing the hunger rate.
Blue could Enhance/Hinder water breathing if that effect is ever added.
Green could maybe Enhance/Hinder the White potion effects.
Black could Enhance/Hinder any poison effects.
I dont have any ideas for any colors that were combined, like orange, but im sure there could be some type of system for that.
The reason i think this would be a good idea is becouse it would add randomness and exitement to potions, as well as adding a few more types of potions, becouse so far there isnt that many potions available to be made.
Hmmm... Cool idea but I think you should use nether wart for almost all the potions. I would love the underwater breathing, I think that would be awesome. Possible akward potions with bone meal could make you grow like a giant! (Like the zombe things only Steve)
like i said, i wasnt sure if it was the best idea to make potions out of just the overworld ingredients but maybe we could add the colors to awkward potions? Also, i think growing like a giant would be a little overpowered. if that was implemented it would have to have far more valuable ingredients added to it.
This is a horible idea. Really. Think about it next time.
Think about using decent grammar and spelling.
I corrected it in the quote so people can know what you are saying.
I support, most ingredients are rather inconvient or require nether access.

I hate people who complain. I hate spiders. I hate people who own an Xbox One. I hate people who like sandbox games. I hate people who like first person shooters. I hate people who like explosions. I hate people who like video games. I hate people who are hateful. I hate people that don't like spam. I hate people who like cake. I hate people who type in proper grammar and spell words properly on the internet. I hate hypocrites.
thats the point. the potions are supposed to be hard to obtain thats why im saying these "colored" potions only effect the potions made from them. they, themselves do nothing. exept for the bonemeal. i am simply trying to find a balance between the availability of potion ingredients. also, im trying to make potions a little more exiting to make by adding randomness.
Thats a cool idea, only thing is that it could overpower umm dying wool? anyways yeah that probably wouldnt be a problem becouse dying wool isnt really hard in the first place and theres already the challenge of getting a alchemy thingy (forgot the name) to make potions in the first place. and it makes alot of sense, lol.
