Recently I was thinking about the history of minecraft and about how it's gone from good ole "punch trees.. survive.. explore epic caves" to "make potions.. get enchanted stuff..." It feels as though notch's baby is slowly turning into this weird sandbox rpg skyrim wannabe. Now before the haters start their keyboard assault about how im just nostalgic, I wanna say that I'm totally down for potions i love them. I'm in love with enchantments (although a lot of them seem useless [smite vs sharpness??? cmon]) but There have been so many suggestions for "moon world" or "aether world" or "sea world" which all seem like cool ideas but i would MUCH rather have more ores and wonderful well thought out dungeons.. and real significant treasure to find... not a saddle and some bread. I wanna fight through a ton of mobs with my super epic enchanted gear and find some amazing treasure. I guess what I'm getting at is that, no matter how high the "difficulty" is set, Minecraft is just to easy. I mean you get some enchants and you're suddenly invincible seems a little op to me. I just think we could add some more mystery and adventure to minecraft. no more of this magic stuff give me a sword put me against some mobs and let me find some freaking amazing treasure.. not string.. or bread... hopefully this didn't come off as a rage or me trolling or anything. I genuinley love all the updates that have come. but perhaps 1.5 or even 1.4 could have some USEFUL ore (not like emerald..) oil, marble, uranium, idk tekkit had some good ideas the I think should be put in minecraft vannila (not all of tekkit but some) anywho I've said enough, hopefully im not the only one who just wants to mine some new stuff. diamondz boys and girls diamonds

1. Don't worry, they aren't going to happen
2. Haven't you played hardcore?
3. No for oil, maybe for marble, and noooooo for uranium. Why? They are too advanced in minecraft, were you have potions and fight with swords and keep stuff in chests.
4. What is in Tekkit, stays in Tekkit. Its way too advanced for minecraft.
5. We all do, and maybe I'll post one later.
Didn't mean all of tekkit cause i agree its waaayyy too much for minecraft vannila but i think it had SOME good ideas. Just looking for some well thought out dungeons and treasure thats all.
Though the OP is a bit jumbled an ramble-y, I think you make a few good points.
Dungeons/difficulty: I've heard people say Minecraft isn't hard enough for the longest time. A lot of these complaints result in calls for mobs that can get to you anywhere, anytime, which in my opinion only makes the game incredibly irritating to play for everyone else. You seem to be taking a different perspective on the matter though - you want optional challenges, not constant hazards. I can understand why you feel this way, too - we have all of this fancy stuff, but very few exciting things to do with it. Let's face it, the Wither is just an equipment check - it's not fun to fight - and everything else in the game is ridiculously easy to deal with once you get some decent gear. And despite Beta 1.8 being the "adventure update", there's not a whole lot of incentive to go adventuring.
I would love some larger, themed, rarely occurring (but not limited in number) Legend of Zelda style dungeons in the overworld. They should probably contain a fair number of puzzles and traps, as well as special, more difficult mobs that pertain to that particular kind of dungeon's theme (could even have a moderately difficult boss monster at the end). The loot should also be something unique and useful that you wouldn't get ordinarily.
To give you an example (because I realize the above paragraph is kind of vague), some kind of water temple or giant shipwreck or something that generates in the depths of the ocean. Most of the rooms would be at least partially underwater, with hallways you pretty much have to swim through. It could contain blue "water slimes" that can breathe underwater, and when they hit you you get sucked into them for a little bit, dealing damage and taking air out of your breath meter. Somewhere inside the dungeon you would get flippers, special boots that never break (but don't count toward your armor), which let you swim a little faster underwater. The boss could be an enormous killer squid or something - it's not a very fleshed out idea, just an example.
More ores/Technic: More ores would be nice, though I'm not sure about uranium or oil. The trouble is finding a use for any new ore you add. More stone types would also be good; I like building out of stone but I tire of the same drab, gray color. Marble is a really good suggestion, there could even be different colors of it appearing in large deposits in certain areas.
I've felt for a long time that Minecraft could use a "Technic-lite" update, like a watered down Buildcraft/Redpower 2 added to the game. Nothing too fancy, just perhaps some more advanced redstone components, liquid pipes and pumps (coal powered), an allocator block, and maybe a device for copying building plans.

The name of this topic is called "let's get back to our roots". Uranium, Oil, and Tekkit is going very far from our roots.
I do, however, agree with the Zelda dungeons. It would be nice to have them spawn rarely and with randomized traps so they are actually dangerous (unlike jungle temples).

Yes, I would love to have more ores and more detailed dungeons, but with the ores, you must find a use for it. And I do guess they could improve the dungeons some.

I wouldn't say your invincible, you could go onto multiplayer and pvp with other players that also have enchantments. I also do admit that the treasures aren't that good.

Oil, No. Uranium, No. Marble, maybe, depends on what you mean by this. Most of Tekkit is to complicated, you need to be more specific on what parts you would want in it.
Wouldn't adding new dimensions or worlds be exciting? Though mod territory it would be fun to have some new vanilla dimension/world/biome. I like the idea of sea world because the oceans are bland in minecraft.
