In my opinion, 5 different tools and armor material isn't enough. I'm suggesting 2 new type of metals: Notchite and Herobrium. These are extremely rare. They can appear in any biomes. But only 2 cluster of ores are generated per chunk and the maximum size of cluster can be up to 2 ores. So the maximum amount of ores in a single chunk would be 4 ores, making it highly rare.
Both Notchite and Herobrium ores give off light. Herobrium ores, however, gives off red glow. Notchite ores gives off golden glow.
Notchite and Herobrium tools have the same durability as each other. They have 1562 uses. The only difference is the looks. Notchite is white and yellow in appearance while Herobrium is black and red. Of course, the durability of armor is as same as durability of diamond. However, the armor have slightly different properties. Herobrium armor protects you from lava while Notchite armor protects you from falling damage. However, if Herobrium armor is enchanted with Fire Resistance, it will remove lava protection. If Notchite boots is enchanted with Feather Falling, it will remove fall damage protection.
Now moving on to the tools.
Pickaxes can mine what diamond pickaxe can. They mine as fast as gold pickaxe.
Axes cuts down trees as fast as gold axe.
Hoes are still the same but they have 4000 uses, great for massive farm project.
Shovels dig dirt, sand, clay, gravel, soul sand as fast as gold shovel.
Notchite and Herobrium sword inflicts 9 damage. (4.5 hearts)
The texture is slightly different.
And the armor!
Both of these armors give 22 armor points (88% damage reduction)
Each piece of Herobrium armor increases lava resistance by 3%. So at full set, lava damage reduction would be at 12%, plus the 88% damage protection, making you invincible to lava. However, the armor will
still take durability damage so don't be in lava too long or the armor will break. But if you enchant it with Fire Protection, it kills the lava resistance. So try to avoid enchanting.
Notchite armor reduces fall damage by 20% for each piece. Full set of Notchite armor will reduce fall damage by 80%. However, the armor will still take durability damage. If you enchant boots with feather falling, it will override the fall damage reduction. So try to avoid enchanting.
The texture for Notchite and Herobrium armor will be unique from iron, gold and diamond. It won't be a recolor.
Crafting
To craft tools, you use sticks, just like other tools. Then you put Notchite or Herobrium Ingots.
To craft armor, you put ingots in same way you craft armor.
All feedbacks are welcome. If there's any changes it needs, let me know.
Mmmm....no, that sounds like minecraft is turning into Runescape or something where there are a million different materials. And the notch and herobrine stuff just sounds kinda silly.

Yeah, it's no secret with what you were going for with the names, but I don't find them that clever or funny. The tools/armor made with this stuff would be so unspeakably overpowered, at 4686 durability. Imagine how powerful these tools would be once enchantments are applied to them. There's no point in adding lava protection or fall damage immunity because the Potion of Fire Resistance and Feather Falling enchantment already do this.

Hey, you there. Yes, you! Are you thinking about posting a suggestion on the forums anytime soon? If so, please read this before doing so.
I'm aware the durability is a bit too high. I will change it to have same durability as diamonds. I changed it so if the armor is enchanted, the special properties are destroyed.
I didn't say Herobrine. I said Herobrium. A extremely rare metal named after him. And Notchite is named after Notch. They're just reference.
I'm making changes. When it comes to PvP, they have same effectiveness as diamond. (7 damage towards player, 9 damage towards mobs)
As I stated, they're very rare. Herobrium will only be found in Nether. In any layer, but only up to 4 ores can spawn per chunk. Notchite is found in overworld, but found at layers 12 or below. The rarity is what offsets the OP.
I'm not sure why there won't be more tools. The diamond tier is a bit crappy, in terms of design.
Ummm, there won't be any more tools because we don't need them and we have enough? How is the diamond tier "a bit crappy"..? What are you talking about?
I will just make a mod instead. I'm scrapping this suggestion.
I'd hate to pour a bucket of salty lemon juice filled with small razors into this fresh wound, but you should have made this Plan A.

Diamond is just a recolor of iron. Yes, I know it can be changed with texture packs.
What does the color of diamond have to do with anything? What are you getting at? Did you say that diamond tier things are "a bit crappy" just because they're blue?
