The water isn't right. Water doesn't flow through any open doors. Water doesn't flow through ladders. Water doesn't flow through signs.
So I'm suggesting some new changes.
Doors will act like a floodgate, when opened, water flows through. If closed, the water flow is cut off. So there will no longer be "air bubbles".
Water will be able to occupy block with ladder and sign in it. It won't break off ladder and sign.
Water will also pass through iron bars, trapdoors, Nether brick fence, fences, fence gate and piston extension rod.
Torches will break off if water flows through it. Rail would no longer break off. Buttons and levers will no longer break off or get destroyed when water flows through it. Water will also break cobwebs. Redstone and Redstone Repeater would become waterproof. So you can have underwater redstone circuit.
It would be great for airlock as buttons would no longer get destroyed.
I know Minecraft isn't meant to be realistic but in my opinion, water isn't realistic enough.
With new water flowing system, you would be able to have underwater signs.
Well, I like using signs and ladders for water elevators, floodgates etc. So I don't like this idea. And I like having underwater homes without flooding it by opening a door
