At the moment you can't play LAN without an internet connection in the Minecraft Laucher without another laucher like MagicLaucher. And the reason being you log in with the player name "Player" and it will kick you because your "logged in from another location" it would be good if while you were connected to the webs it would take your minecraft username and skin and saved it for offline use

Actually.. How are you connecting to LAN? are you doing through the single player way? (game menu -> open to LAN)? Haven't tried that way, so I wouldn't got a clue. But what I did was download the minecraftserver.exe , then open server.properties, change online-mode=true to online-mode=false. After that just login (leaving the password blank) and enter offline mode, or you can connect to the internet if you want and still works.
If I'm running the server on the same PC, I'll just enter "localhost" in the server address and connect to it. Or If I am connecting from another PC I would enter the IP for the PC (a static IP that I had assigned to that PC via my router) that is hosting the server. It works fine. Using 2 laptops and a desktop PC, sharing between my little brother and sister/s who I got hooked on this game lol.

Yeah that'll be good. I like to see a way that I can use a skin for only LAN/Offline and another skin to use for only ONLINE, seems kinda useless (I know) but It be pretty cool. For me anyways.

I connect with a LAN Cabble and Single Player -> Open to LAN
I have known about the Offline Mode = False Thing for Ages
And have known how to connect without the open to LAN feature (using server software)
And thanks for telling me how to get the IP's and all but I have done this before
So, where was the suggestion again? You said what you couldn't do and then kinda stopped :l
Well, I know what you mean and I agree with you, we need better offline-Lan support.
Well i'm pretty sure i'm the first one to post this suggestion
Well you can do by using a Laucher That changes your username from player in offline
