I've been playing Super Hostile maps a bunch lately, and I find that about half of my deaths are from skeletons shooting me off into the void or lava, instead of from direct combat with mobs.
Thusly, I propose a "Lead Foot" knockback resistance effect.
It would mostly be like Fire Resistance:
Foot armor can get be enchanted with the effect to varying degrees (less and less knockback)
Potions can be made to negate knockback all together. Perhaps an Awkward Potion with Obsidian?
It makes sense, since Obsidian is immovable by pistons or explosions. If this seems excessive for balancing purposes, then perhaps an iron ore instead?
For balance, this would have a short duration before Redstone/Glowstone is applied (about 30 seconds).
The enchantment could be scaled like Feather Falling; it is possible to get the first level of Lead Foot with level 1 experience, but level IV will need 20+ levels of experience.
Possible side effect? - Floating gravel/sand would fall underneath you if you stand on it.
Alternate names? - Immovable, Juggernaut, Tank, Magnet Boots.
I'm generally a Minecraft purist; I don't play with mods, but this does not seem to violate the nature of the vanilla game. Please let me know what you think!

Alright, that part sounds good.

Uhh, no. Potions are made with small ingredients (with the exception of the Glistering Melon) and not solid blocks or ingots.

I'd say no here, because you spent your "hard-earned" ingredients to get this effect. So there's no need to tack on downsides.

Not bad. Potions shouldn't be made out of Obsidian though, they should just be raw ingredients.

I don't really like the possible side effect that much, but the alternate names sound excellent.
I give this suggestion an 8/10. Support earned.

I'm still using Windows 7.
I said this. Two days later, my computer's motherboard melted down and I had to get a new one with Windows 8.
I have to say, this is the best post from someone with 1 post I've seen.
That doesn't mean it's that good. First of all, I say no on the potion, for the same reasons as Zippy. Second, as others have suggested, I say that you should sink in water while you have lead foot enchantment on your armor. You sink faster and rise slower while pressing space. You sink at double the normal speed and rise at half your normal speed - fairly simple.

Both are fair points. Alright, what about making "obsidian dust"? Place an obsidian block in the crafting grid and get 2-4 dust from it.
Then the dust can become the ingredient to combine with an awkward potion.

Thanks for the compliment! Would my proposed amendment to the recipe (obsidian dust) make the potion an idea you would get behind?
I like the sinking in water idea instead of making sand/gravel fall. Could even be helpful! Combine that with an aqua affinity and respiration helmet and you can work on the bottoms of lakes and oceans!
Another idea; if fermented spider eyes reverse the potion effect, what would reversing this do?
I was thinking "feather-weight", The player would more easily knocked away, but could jump higher and fall slowly.
Any further thoughts? What are the odds the Mojang staff would see something like this? I'm new to the forums.

"Lead Foot" seems to be the winner. To me at least. Overall, I support this effect.

Irony in the first degree.
BBCode Render failed due to reaching MaxNestingDepth(80) for Tag: spoiler
