Well, I have recently read a topic on how to improve oceans, and it looked pretty cool. Earlier I also saw a pretty good minecraft "Artist" called FireHazurd, which I will put a link to his mobs section and the ocean suggestion below. Firehazurd made the images, and he uses 3D Studio max, SO DON'T ASK! In other words... I DO NOT OWN THIS ART! The better oceans inspired me to make this thread, and firehazurd gave me some mob ideas. Now here are some things that can be added:
DEEPER OCEANS:Ok, we all know the deep abyss in the real world where it gets all dark and there are creatures that will BLOW. YOUR. MIND! So baisicly, that is what happens. The ocean gets darker as you go deeper, and most oceans go REALLY DEEP, so bring a resparation helmet or make and AIR TANK, crafted at a crafting table using iron like an iron block, but with a hole in the middle and a glass bottle. The air tanks are simply used by a right click, restoring 3 air bubbles and has the animation of eating it, but instead of chunks going everywhere it is bubbles, they also have the "Durribility" of a wooden sword. The durribility means how much air is left and the air will slowly regenerate at land/air pockets. The angler is one of the known mobs down in the deep, so here is some of Fire's art:
So that is the angler, and there is some other mobs that I have not seen any art for, but I will mention what they look like. Anyawys, the angler has 7 Hearts of health. The mob is hostile and will attack on sight, dealing 2 hearts of damage. Note that the little lights on their heads give off as much light as a redstone torch. Another one of the mobs found underwater is a JELLYFISH, yes, the ones that sting you to death but feel like a pillow (DON'T TRY THAT AT YOUR... BEACH HOME!). These guys have tentacles like a squid, but even more thin and more small, and their head is about the size of a pig's leg, they come in neon red, neon blue, and a very dark purple. They deal 2 hearts of damage per hit and have a 40% chance of getting the nausea effect, which is a kind of neat way to get nausea into the game. They have 5 hearts of health each, they travel in 3s or 4s, and try to form a circle around you. Note that these all spawn in the deep ocean, so please, don't ask.
AIR POCKETS:You know those things in the sea which expell air bubbles? Yeah, I have no idea what they are called anymore, but if you know, post it below, because that is the wasy to go! Anyways, not speaking in rymes, here are some pictures of different versions
So, the ground around it is made of clay, and it sometimes spurts up bocks of air to the surface, which you can later find when you are sailing and come up apon little air bubbles. The actual kind of material it is made of is stone, gravel, sandstone, and coal ore. It will sometimes have SPONGES around, so there is a hint!
BETTER OCEAN MOBS:We have all seen the oh so common fish thread, but this one has different mobs, made by firehazurd, although I will most likely change their stats. Note: This is regular, not deep seas, but regular ocean biomes and maybe small islands/beaches:
A turtle is a passive creature, you can put chests on him and he lives on beaches. He has 6 hearts of health and you can put a chest on his back, he also follows wheat so it is fun to have a storage turtle.
The giant turtle is a passive mob, he hangs around in the water near the beaches and can be mounted with a right click. After right clicking, you are now on his 2x2 platform of blocks and you can build a small structure shown above, not like a huge 3 story one, but you can build up to 2 stories. Simplay right click on the origanal 4 blocks and you are off of him. The giant one has about 24 hearts of health, as he is a big strong creatures, and increases to 26 when maximum building is made, that counts as his shell as well. He will not fight you, thankfully, but he WILL drop a part of a turtle shell, which if you get 4, you put it in a 2x2 square like a crafting table and that forms a turtle shell. Putting a tutle shell in with your amor (Has to be iron armor!) will make it shelled (Whaever armor you are wearing), the shelled armor give you another texture and reduces the damage by 1 heart when hit on the back. These guys are rare though, they have just a 10% chance of spawning. They can be controlled by getting a saddle, hopefully crafted by leather and string, which you use your common movement keys to go around, anyways not a carrot on a stick, he would kill it in an instant!
These are octopie, the first one is a regular octopus, he has 5 hearts of health, he will spurt ink, kind of like the smoke particles, at you and try to escape. He is passive. The second is a giant octopus with a grand maximum of 9 health, he is hostile when you get a bit close, and he will spray ink when fleeing, he does about 4 hearts per hit, watch out for these guys! The last one is a camo octopus, he is passive with 5 hearts, and has a 8% chance of spawning, they travel in a group of 5, and they have a drop of camo ink, when a piece of your armor is surrounded in a crafting bench with it, it will make you 5 percent more transparent every piece of armor.
Cool idea but there are already a handful of other Ocean promoting posts. Try adding your ideas onto the bigger posts.
This is inspired by one another, and I happen to like my own topics, not posting a whole thread on another's thread just so they can get all the credit.

Not trying to demean your post I am just letting you know it will get more noticed if you post of somewhere were people will see it (an active post...)

A modded looking for dedicated (at least consistent) texture artists/modelers to make magic with! Not literally magic...but...mods! PM me...
Read, I DO NOT OWN THIS ART, in bold. I hope you are joking, which I am sure you are. Plus even if I did, I didn't, I would be stealing from Firehazurd >:3. He is a great artist too
