Previously, I had an idea where if you brewed bat wings you turned into a bat that flew. However, this one guy (JonMcDonald) suggested that potions be made for all sorts of mobs to turn into, interesting right?
Now, if you were to drink any of these potions you would earn the abilities that that mob has. You could suicide bomb as a creeper, (as said earlier) fly like a bat, teleport as an enderman, climb up walls like a spider etc. Clearly you shouldn't be able to become an ender dragon but yeah....
Disguise perks (All mob stats are retained pertaining to what it is, other mobs are hostile if you turn into a mob it doesn't like THOUGH it will be neutral otherwise as if you were not a player) :
Bat: Can fly freely at a faster rate than sprinting and you can't interact with the world. Many are in favor of adding some sort of blindness/echolocation, so possibly when if bat form everything would be gray scale and any changes in entity location / block values would be updated every so and so intervals. Enderman: Left clicking grabs a block automatically (Actually useful for building!) or attacks, and right clicking teleports you (With cooldown) OR places a block down. Creeper: Right clicking begins suicide sequence ;D, you can't do anything else Zombie: Left clicking knocks down doors (Hard mode) or attacks, right clicking marks something with hunger, which will turn humanoids into zombies when killed. Can pick up armor and weapons. Skeleton: Right click instantaneously shoots (With cooldown), armor and bows can be picked up, and you can right click spiders to ride them. Slime: touching people hurts them (when larger than smallest size), right clicking splits you instantaneously, spawning a clone that hurts whatever hits you (and its sub-forms). Spider: You climb walls and hurt whatever you touch.Skeletons can ride you by right clicking. Cave spider: You climb walls and hurt + poison whatever you touch. Skeletons can't ride you. Blaze: You hurt whatever you touch, you fly slowly, right-clicking begins to charge up 3 fire balls you shoot in a burst (cooldown). Ghast: You fly slowly, and right clicking shoots fireballs (cooldown). Magma cube: Like slime, but you are immune to lava. Silverfish: You hurt whatever you touch, right clicking a stone, stone brick, or cobble block infests it with silverfish (you have 5 charges that regenerate over time). IronGolem: left clicking swings your arm, right clicking holds out a rose. Villager: You are defenseless and incapable of doing anything, except getting max trade deals with other villagers, zombies attack you on sight. Zombie pigman: Other pigmen come to your defense, left clicking attacks, right clicking commands other pig zombies to attack/move there (Feels like having your personal SWAT team kinda). Wolf: Other wolves come to your defense, left clicking attacks. Witch: I'm not too sure, the witch has a lot of potions to throw so right clicking and left clicking can't map everything. Wither skeleton: Left clicking attacks. Pig: you are ride-able! Sheep: Right clicking eats grass (With cooldown). Cows: Unfortunately useless D: Chicken: Right clicking drops egg, left clicking hatches one (still with 1/10 chance and a cooldown). Mooshroom: Right clicking places a red-spotted or brown mushroom.
(CREATIVE ONLY, FROM HERE ON OUT)
All breed-able mobs: left clicking mates with an animal of your kind (Even though it's just a disguise, ew!)
Snow Golem: You leave a trail of snow, right clicking throws harmless snowballs. Ocelot: Creepers are scared of you, random skin used. Squid: You can't move on land but don't drown Ender dragon: Hell why not. Speedy flying, special dedicated hp bar, destroy all non-endstone and obsidian blocks, and hit whatever you touch. Remember, creative mode. Wither: All applicable boss stages, right clicking fires skeleton heads.
The tough part of this is how to earn them. An easy no harm method is to only allow /give or creative mode to obtain them. But if we're talking survival these could become seriously OP potions.
1) I was thinking rare materials like MOB HEADS should be implemented in these recipes to disguise yourself. After all, tf2 spy only needs to tape a mask to his face to disguise himself. This is good because mob heads can't be farmed should a player make a death machine that kills them indirectly i.e. using gunpowder, rotten flesh, bones is a bad idea.
2) What could this be? I don't know, suggest something to me because maybe #1 isn't good enough!
In hindsight, I see now how these potions may not be so OP after all. If you're getting yourself an enderman potion, you probably have iron gear. When you are in human form with iron armor + diamond sword, you have:
20 hp
15 armor
7 damage (remember 1 heart = 2 hp)
In enderman mode you can teleport (Likely with a cooldown), plus:
40 hp
0 armor
4 damage
So when you can finally acquire these potions (with enderman as example), they would be obsolete excluding their inner abilities. And for creepers, well, that's not a statistic story. Still not OP IMO.
THINGS TO DISCUSS:
How should the witch disguise potion work?
What should the heads of mobs without distinct heads (EX: ghast slime) look like?
Oh, last thing, they'd have to add more heads for this ofc. If you liked this topic a lot, +1 it and be sure to keep it alive! If you really like it, and can, please make this a banner as well. Thanks for reading, criticism welcome
Neat idea you got there, and since I am not a creeper, I will drink your potion and say, "Oh it would be a ssssshame if ssssomething happened to it...."

Minor dupstep... Doomsday. DUBWUBWUBWUB, WUBDUBDUBDUB, DUMDUMUMDUM, WUBWUBWUBWUB!
I'd become a creeper and hug myself. Great idea, though. Also, if you play on any Bukkit servers, ask your admins to look up the "Mob Disguises" plugin. Does basically the same thing, but with chat-based commands, as well as the fact that your health, armor, and food bar stay the same.
I had an idea like this once, but I had posted it in the mod section. Still, I think I support this one, mob disguises are something very enjoyable, and it would be nice to have them in vanilla. Plus, most of the time you have to donate to actually use this feature, which is a real pain for people who don't have money to spare.
We could also certainly do with more mob heads. Variety is the spice of life after all!
I think it should take a bit if time to for the potion to take effect. It should also stop displaying you username above you while your under the guise of a mob.

Easy idea would be that wearing the mask makes mobs of that type neutral.
Yeah, but that doesn't fool a player. It also doesn't let you explode in people's face.

I'm aware that it exists, but is it in vanilla or allow you to viciously hug other players?

I don't see a need to add a load time to disguise yourself, maybe you could tell me why. But yeah, it shouldn't show your username. Thanks for the support

I suggested that because if the potion's effect is instantanious, then you can just hide behind a wall if your being chased, drink the potion, and evade danger. If you have to wait for the potion to take effect, then it's harder to just run away from battle.

That'd have to be a dumb player if he knew mob disguises existed, even if the escapee wanted to blend in with a group of that mob. I would just slaughter them all to be honest. Besides, that escape would be a nice positive of having the potion, because people are too sensitive of ideas being OP nowadays (no offense). Maybe, however, if this were to be done, smoke particles would fizz around the player for the first three to five seconds of transformation?
Cool! Maybe if you're a hostile mob or a wolf you have a chance of attacking pets/passive mobs against your will. Mind-controlling zombie viruses FTW (if they just stay in fictitious worlds).

Be caring, please help my dragon hatch by giving him a little click.
Better than my suggestion! (Involved golden nuggets and mob drops) I love using mob disguise for trolling, but it's usually reserved for donators or admins, so I never have any fun being restricted to pig disguises or nothing at all.

To all of you people who think Notch is still working on the game, he stopped working on Minecraft in late 2011. Get your facts straight and stop spamming his twitter about Minecraft updates.
I'm not sure you should be able to disguise as every mob.
Still, I guess the extreme rarity of mob-heads balances it out.
Good idea, find the name of the guy who you got it from.
You can't, not in survival mode. I dropped all the ones too OP *Cough ender dragon Cough* and the pointless ones, though I would consider adding the pointless ones in. And yeah, mob heads are why I think this works now Oh, and Jonmcdonald suggested this in my bat potion thread.

Perhaps it's not the best idea to restrict passive mobs to creative mode. While they might be an easier disguise to get, you can't gain much of an advantage with them. It doesn't really seem fair to restrict people from using what is the weakest of the disguises available. It seems even more unfair to prevent use of mooshrooms disguises, because not only are mooshrooms themselves hard to find, but mob heads themselves are also hard to come by. It wouldn't be right to neglect a player their reward after all that hard work.
I am also unsure about the ability to breed with mobs while disguised, and the ability to place mushrooms while you're a mooshroom, as regular mooshrooms are unable to do that themselves.

This is an awesome Idea...mabey the mob heads could be put into the brewing stand along with a normal drop and some water (If you wanted to be a skeleton, you would need 1 skeleton head and 1 bone)
