I was talking with a friend of mine about this idea, and he thought it was genious.
redstone, when mined, should drop its ore. the ore, can be smelted into ingots. ingots can be used for blocks, tools, armour, and possibly some more redstone wiring contraptions. when you put one ingot in the crafting bench or the inventory crafter, it should give you 4 redstone dust. when wearing redstone armor, redstone particles would come off of you and you would move 10% faster per peice of armor, except for boots, which would be 20%. any support or other ideas for new redstone posted here. thx
It seems like an interesting idea to have in the game but what would the redstone ingots and armor really do. The armor could be something that powers redstone when nearby or maybe apply special effects to the wearer/user. My only worry is that a lot of things might just complicate the game too much and just not fit in with the rest of the game.

if you re-read the post, i said the affects of redstone armour. i am not sure what properties tools will have, but i will be posting again soon
youre just being a pesimest. it adds more to do wit redstone than make a stupid piston door. it gives a better use than stacking up in your inventory.
If you really think redstone is useless, go check out the redstone section. Redstone is one of the most useful and diverse items in the game, if not the most, because of all the things you can do with it.
Also, redstone is fairly easy to get by mining, and making armor make you move faster (50% total) is OP and unnecessary.

Well man, go check out the redstone section. Redstone is chock full of types of circuits. Traps, lighting systems, music generators and more. I don't think ingots made out of dust should give you OP armor.

Just because he doesn't support your idea doesn't make him a pessimist. There is a thread about this same thing that was more than likely on the first page of this forum (on your PC) as you typed your thread. No, Redstone does not give you just "stupid piston doors" and that it's "stacking up your inventory". Read the possibilities of Redstone circuits in the "Redstone" forum - the possibilities are overwhelming.
By the way, this suggestion has been done many times before.
I dunno if I support this. What if the armor sent redstone signals to nearby block? That would be cool. On the other hand, this idea is kind of pointless. We don't need new armor, and the speed boost is pretty OP.
The redstone ingots exist in RedPower if that what you are looking for.
Redstone is meant to be a sort of electrical source for powering things and would make NO sense to use as armor and tools. I want to say there is a mod that does this already (I may be mistaken so dont quote me on it...) and it is just kinda senseless to be honest.

A modded looking for dedicated (at least consistent) texture artists/modelers to make magic with! Not literally magic...but...mods! PM me...
Alright, maybe people aren't warming up to the idea of new red stone. I still personally like the idea. The main thing I want is just more options for armor and tools and more special functions besides protection. I not looking for some mod, but an actual minecraft possibility. Any ideas for other ores or materials that would make decent armor and tools? Plea gimme sum feedback, thx
