Lets face it, the longer you play minecraft, the easier nights become to survive, even on hard mode. Minecraft needs a whole host of new dangerous mobs to spawn in the night. Maybe something that would be REALLY deadly and very hard to kill. My idea for this is like a ghost mob. This mob would be visible, but barly. It would have the ability to haunt players, and control them and steer them into danger. It could also control animals and other mobs and supercharge them, or make their abilities more deadly. Just a thought of mine since I aint no newb
I don't think it would be a good idea. I'm not really into the whole "Witch and Wither" stuff, and they would be VERY hard to kill.
I don't want much haunting stuff in minecraft.

Give a bit more details.
How much would their health be? How much damage do they do? What do they drop? What are their purpose?
They would have relatively low health, but they could only be killed or repelled with lapis lazuli blocks, or a lapis ray gun!!! They would drop plasmic goop which would be used to make a potion of invisibility that lasts longer than the other one, and would make it so that you don't take fall damage, and are invisible to all mobs also. Their sole purpose is to mess with and try to kill the player and make it hard for them to live.
I don't want a mob that can control me. That would just make the game more annoying, not more challenging.

Oh my! Monsters with crowd control capabilities! That would make navigating a narrow path with a lava pitfall very exciting indeed! People will call you mad! But I like it! Danger and adventure!
Perhaps they could play slight tricks on your perception! Like modify your HUD to appear as if your dying! Or force your air meter to appear to frighten you into believing your drowning! But of course it would all be illusions that the dastardly ghost is casting to confuse you!

Controlling players is just a pain in the ass. It's not difficulty, it's fake difficulty. And only fought with Lapis?
The thing about Minecraft enemies is that they all are fought in the same way, all hurt by the same things. Changing that, or requiring special items to fight specific ones, just makes the game annoying.
I think there should be a mob in hard mode which does a very large amount of damage, is reasonably rare.. But which cannot be killed. This forces the player to run, making the game more challenging.
