I had a couple of ideas to give more flavor and chalenge to the nice pyramid and jungle temple structures.
The first one is mummies. Of course this is not just and old idea, but also natural choice (using geek logic ) for pyramids. What I propose here is just a specific implementation:
Mummy. Spawn from spawners located inside pyramids. Their statistics and abilities are identical to a zomies (including the ability to use weapons and armor) ecxept for two things::
1) they do not burn in sunlight
2) when they hit a player, additional to the damage, they cause the player to be "cursed".
cursed status: the player cannot regenerate health in any manner for a certain time.
The second idea are pygmies. These are small humanoid vicious creatures, as small and fast as baby villagers. They carry a blowgun and shoot poisoned darts at the player. Their spawners are always located outside a jungle temple within a radious of X squares. These spawners may be hidden by leaf blocks or vines.
Even though the mummy was suggested a lot, I'd support it. The curse-giving feature makes it a mob with original mechanics compared to the other ones. I'm not very fond of the pygmies though, because I don't see a blowgun fitting in very well.

Pygmies with blowguns chasing you through a jungle would be fun. They are smaller and weaker than zombies but spawn in small groups. They shoot poisioned darts at you which slow you down for 2-3seconds thats all. Just enough to make a group of them chasing you dangerous, but they don't need to do severe damage. maybe ocelots are involved with them as pets, or maybe they are afraid of them too.
Mummies i dunno, They are slow and melee only typically. Being more rare than zombies (using geek logic) they need somethin to make them unique. Maybe they would live in sand blocks like silver fish and crawl out once you approach them. Maybe they only take damage from fire or water. Maybe they live in chests and jump out when you open one. They would need another drop too, maybe something for potions.
btw with all the negative press the witch has gotten lately, I'd like to propose a new mob. Jesuses or jesusi I dunno. But he/they are one part risen zombie, one part magic witch, one part carpenter. On death he would drop a bread and fish. They wouldnt do damage to you, just follow you around and tell you that MC is actually a video game and was made by humans living IRL. If you want to can stand around and listen to him, if you want to.

Well I think blowguns go well with pygmies, but they can use little bows or wathever. The idea was to have a jungle related mob, with a specific mechanics, and make jungle temples a chalenging experience.
Of course, I think that with greater chalenge greater reward should come! some diamonds in the chests of pyramids and jungle temples would be a good bite
While mummies would be awesome face (go sky army) i have a feeling that they wouldn't be added. But I do agree that all the new temples are WAY to easy. Maybe just covering the hole in the roofs in them and putting zombie spawners buried in the ground would be good enough.

I support these natural spawning temples need mobs to protect them like pygmies and mummies!

Also I was thinking that maybe the idea of the pygmy spawner to be hidden in the jungle is not good, as the pygmies, being small fast, ranged and poisonus can be quite difficult, and after some time people would end up burning their jungles just to find the spawner, which ruins the landscape :(.
Maybe it is better if these spawners are inside the jungle temple :P.

the wither was added and is absolutely OP if you aren't prepared for it
