I'm sure I could create a mod for this, but who thinks it would be cool if you could transform 9 coal into 1 "Dense Coal", and then turn 9 of those into 1 diamond? It wouldn't cause diamonds to be too easily accessible due to the fact that it would require 81 coal, but yet give players with too much coal a chance to get a few diamonds. This would also allow players to store coal easier, turning 9 into 1 dense coal which could later be turned back into 9 coal (although once you make a diamond it cannot be undone).
Hmm, kind of a cool idea, although you know coal doesn't actually turn to diamond in real life right? Somewhat unrealistic.
I think that price to pay is almost too much for one diamond as well.
Although if this was implemented, I think a compressed coal should work for 72 items in a furnace...each coal = 8 items... 9x8.. you get the idea.

I know that it doesn't make diamond but a lot of people believe that because that's what they teach in elementary and middle school. But it would still make it easier to get a diamond or two if you are a pro at getting coal but can't seem to find any diamond. And cooking 72 items would be good too.
I have stacks upon stacks of coal ready to mine and it is way overpowered. Imagine this- a noobie who has no idea what anything in minecraft is- will he mine at the depths of the earth for diamond or the surface for coal?

Don’t quote me. And Don’t quote me on not wanting to be quoted either.
Sorry, but I have to say this is way too OP. Coal can be found in veins that sometimes (With Fortune III) give you more than a stack. Coal is also the most commonly found ore. With this I would suddenly have 5 stacks of diamond, way too easily even with the limitaion of 81 coal to 1 diamond.

Diamonds are formed when carbon is subjected to intense heat and pressure. If coal happens to be that source of carbon, then it will become a diamond.
