People have been talking a lot about how to shoot an arrow while riding a pig. Many have suggested dual wielding or holding the carrot between your legs. This is not a valid way!
Solution: Shoot arrows that the pig will run to.
The pig whom you are riding will run to the area where you shot the arrow and eat the carrot. The pigs would only eat carrot arrows shot by that player. Dispensers and other players who fire carrot arrows would not draw the pig’s attention. If the player shot an entity with a carrot arrow the pig would ‘strafe' the shot target, similar to the AI of skeletons.
Using carrot arrows you will not be able to harm the pig.
It would require a few extra arrows but, it would be worth it. what else are you going to do with all those carrots?
Anyhow, I'm not sure if this is a great way to allow use of items on pigs. A few questions though:
- How do you select normal arrows or carrot arrows?
- Why is dual wielding/ carrot between legs bad? (Ok I'll let you off on the dual wielding part, but still)
- Don't you think this would be extremely awkward?

The game would select the first one in your inventory/toolbar and when you are riding on a pig the pig is between your legs and he can’t see the carrot if you put it on top of him. what part of it would be awkward? the strafing would be extremely useful as opposed to you running past the target. by strafing, I mean walking/running around the target in a circle.

Don’t quote me. And Don’t quote me on not wanting to be quoted either.

Ok, you should probably clarify the selecting in your main post. But if you wore it as a hat, the pig could then see it! It would be awkward in that you'd be firing arrows every 5 seconds to keep the pig moving. Might be hard to code too. I see the usefulness of strafing, I guess, though I still think arrow pointers are awkward. Also, pigs turn somewhat slowly so using a carrot hat gives you enough action time to make you move on your target and maneuver away.

Anyway, it seems like it would eat up arrows like no tomorrow (no pun intended) so it doesn't seem very useful.
