So I was thinking that with all of the new sounds being added recently in the new snapshot, that it would be cool if there were different "sound packs" for Minecraft which would be built in. So there would be a new menu in options called "Sounds." There you would be able to select one of three of the following packs: Classic, Default, or Spooky.
Classic: All of the original sounds for Minecraft before the first changes. (classic hurt sounds, classic door open/close, ect.) But of course all of the sounds that have been added afterward would have their default sounds.
Default: All of the default sounds pre-dating the snapshots leading up to Minecraft 1.4 and 1.4 itself. Also, thing that didn't have any sound wouldn't have any sound, or something that fits the default sounds.
Spooky: All of the newest sounds to be added and/or changed in Minecraft 1.4, better known as the "Pretty Scary Update"
If you have any suggestions for what I have here, you can post them below. If you want to support the idea you can click that up arrow at the bottom of this post.
(I am currently working on a mock-up on how this could look.)
Sounds interesting, TYI there is a mod for this.
I don't think this would work to well. Minecraft has a limited sound engine and not many people could make their own sounds easily.

As the original poster said, Mojang would do it...the sounds have been in the game before or will be.
I don't think it would require too much effort.

Yes I understand that. I wouldn't like to rummage through my computer trying to install sound packs.

Exactly
