A nice 10% durability addition would be a nice thing.
I just thought it over, and I think the ability to repair these swords would be even better! Combining a newly crafted regular diamond pick with a titled enchanted pick that has low health, to bump it back up to 100% health again! What do you think?
Give me feedback and let me know which of the two you guys think is better!
maybe the crafting could be in any order so you dont have to use a crafting bench?
"Here are some pictures showing the ideas! The specific spot the 3 items are put in does not matter." is in the main post! Make sure you read it all carefully!
Obsidian instead of coal, should have been obvious. thanks!
I had noticed that it was covered by the hand, so you think this is a big enough deal to add the hilt as well?
The reason we were doing the handle is because the leather makes sense to be dyed.. The cross-guard is made of diamond.. Although I do agree it looks better this way:
Just the straight up guard..
Or, the two gem look.
Which one do you guys like better?
If at all?
Support and let me know what your ideas are!
I prefer the two-gem inset. It makes it look more vibrant IMO.

Did something happen to you in your childhood to give you this unreasonable fear of rutabaga?
I support this idea! I have a suggestion for one of the pre-made swords you mentioned, too-
Blaze's Wrath: orange hilt, red gems, usually found with Fire Aspect I - III

Very cool idea by the way! I'll add that to the main post and add you to the list!

No problem, man! I'll +1 this tomorrow since I ran out of +1s for today, but this would be a nice touch to personalizing your weapon. Thanks for taking my suggestion!
EDIT: I support the double-gem design, BTW.
Also, what are the opinions on either:
-A more durable sword
OR
-The ability to repair the titled sword with another regular diamond sword
I don't know how likely the repair function is, given that these custom swords have enchantments. Non-repairable enchanted items seem to be what Mojang is going for. I guess the best thing to do would be use your sword until its durability is in the red and then hang it in an item frame on your wall.
Which is kind of a shame, but also kind of nice in a strange way. A well-used sword would demonstrate how far you've gotten since making it.
Or something. Maybe I'm just being cheesy.
Make it three for the double-inset. I've decided I like it best.

Okay, that's three. Official decision, moving to the two gem sword!
Also, about the repairs... I suppose your points are valid. Although a small durability boost would still be nice. :/

The durability boost would still be fine, I think. It would let your personal sword last longer, but still not forever.
This thread has my full support, I'd like to decorate my swords in a cool fashion, although I'm not too sure about naming, but maybe you could use Blaze Powder to dye the blade orange (Iron Sword only) which would give a higher chance of getting a Fire Aspect enchantment. You could find this sword in a chest behind blaze spawners or something.
Im glad you like it!
Your idea is cool, but I'm not sure it fits in with everything else here..
Thanks for support!

Awesome idea! To change the gem color of the sword it could be lapis + dye.
Changing names won't happen or at least I hope not. I don't want to get someone's sword with a terrible name. Written books have no purpose but a sword I could use if I found one.

Color and title will stay the same as soon as you set them. No taking the sword apart or re-dying..
Depending on the type of server you play, normally you wouldn't even keep some one else's custom sword.. Or, since its so special to them, they would stop at nothing to get it back.
AGAIN! I keep missing these! Thanks a bunch! I think blaze rod would be best for orange inset.

great! thank you! thats 2 for two-gem so far!
To catch some of you up, the hilt choice is between these two:
Just the straight up guard..
Or, the two gem look.

Although, Blaze powder or Blaze rods might work as orange-coloured insets.
Changing names won't happen or at least I hope not. I don't want to get someone's sword with a terrible name. Written books have no purpose but a sword I could use if I found one.
That is 19 characters I think. The sword would be enchanted with smite II to IV and would have bone as an inset and ink sac's for dye.
