no, thats the whole point... you get the customization you want, if you kill someone and get their sword, put it on display, or use it. you cant re-title a book can you?

You should make the inset stone affect the pommel, not the crossjoint between the handguard and the blade. That would make much more sense, and also look cooler.

I was thinking this as well, but was not sure. Thanks for a confirmation on the point!!
Oh, thanks for those great ideas! Just the concept of a sword made out of bones is cool to think about.
Glad you like 'em, because I just found a couple more.
First, obsidian as an inset.
Second, more of an observation but I realized that when a character is holding a sword the grip is not visible. Since the grip is the part that gets dyed, just holding it hides half of your customization. So maybe the dyes should colour the entire hilt (cross-guard, grip, and pommel) except the lone pixel coloured by the inset.

Obsidian instead of coal, should have been obvious. thanks!
I had noticed that it was covered by the hand, so you think this is a big enough deal to add the hilt as well?
The reason we were doing the handle is because the leather makes sense to be dyed.. The cross-guard is made of diamond.. Although I do agree it looks better this way:
Just the straight up guard..
Or, the two gem look.
Which one do you guys like better?
If at all?

I see what you're saying. It's not really a deal breaker for me either way, so I guess whatever the majority likes will do.
"Support if you like the idea, and if not, state why!To get these forged swords, the topic has to be popular... so comment like crazy"
Or better yet, comment as crazy , anyway, this seems like a neat concept, but I feel it could be expanded, Why not be able to do this with every tool, You could name each set of tools for a certain, for example, you could have a group of tools with a blue dye and gold gem for your mining and green dye and a diamond gem for the building set, that would make grouping and organizing a good bit easier, anyway, that was just my idea, good luck with this mod!

I like some of these ideas, but for something like a pick or shovel I don't see why anyone would take a long amount of time to enchant and collect dyes and gems as well as give it a title.. A bow with color and title might be cool though!

The very Earth quakes in terror of my mighty pickaxe: Ore Bane!
Joking aside, it's not a terrible idea. But I think it might be best to focus on just swords at first, and maybe it will expand out from there later. I think armour would be the next step, but maybe just chestplates, since they're the biggest and most visible piece.
Yes, concentrate on swords for now. It seems the most likely thing Mojang would add to the game. Another idea came to me, since you spend so much time gathering resources and xp, a titled sword should last a bit longer than colored ones, or for that matter diamond swords in general.

A nice 10% durability addition would be a nice thing.

Perhaps you could also use bones as insets. I'd also suggest glowstone dust, but it would probably look too much like gold.

It would add much more customization to Minecraft Weaponry.
Diamond to you!
