I would like a flying mob for the overworld. The nether has Ghasts, the end has the Enderdragon, How about we pick a mob for the overworld huh?
The Red Dragon- Same as the Enderdragon, just a little bit smaller with red colored body and black wings with green eyes. Does not destroy blocks
The Blue Dragon- Same as the Enderdragon, half as big with a blue body and white wings with green eyes. Does not destroy blocks
Bird(s)- These would be large birds like hawks and eagles that flew high in the sky. You would have to get on extreme hills to kill them.
Update-
There would be a few colored birds, a green, red, yellow and blue bird. Also a hawk, a vulture, an eagle and a crow. The colored birds drop colored feathers, used for pumkin headdress'
They are used to make creepers, endermen AND ghasts avoid you. The creepers get near you but don't explode. Endermen don't attack and ghasts don't shoot at you. The recipe has all for feathers on each space (I couldn't find any colored feather images). The hawks and vultures fly near the clouds, avoiding you. But if you get up to a mountain a they get within 7 blocks, they attack you. They drop normal feathers, but hawks drop raw fish and vultures drop rotten flesh 1-5. This is because thats what they eat. Eagles also behave the same, dropping raw fish, feathers AND string 1-3. Crows usually land on the ground or tops of buildings, they do not attack unless provoked. There eyes turn red when attacking. They drop BLACK feathers, used to create a Darkness Charge, which if you click on the ground with it spawns 5 hostile crows. Can be fired out of a dispenser. Here is the recipe
Floater- These would be ghast like creature just with a red tint, and less tentacles.
Death Flyer- This one is OP. It is twice as big as the Enderdragons, that live in HUGE pits in the ground. They are dormant until shot/sliced at, then they wake up, fly out of there hole and try to kill you. They drop emeralds 3-20 diamonds 5-17 gold 1-100 and rarely drop a sponge, which is a decoration honoring you defeating it. The pits have 2.5% of spawning. They're is only 1.
I like the idea of having more mobs, namely flying ones, however i think that there really would need to be an advance in range combat before any of these ideas are put in place.
For example the bow at the moment is rubbish, lacks damage and accuracy, fighting dragons and what not in the sky would be a pain.
I like the idea of birds, but i would rather they they exist as more of an environmental tweak, i.e. woods are full of birds instead of just wolfs and chickens, something to just make the world a bit...fuller, and seem far less baron.
They could drop...Colored feathers? and you could make head dresses and such, i think that would be cool.

Let me correct you on that. The bow does equal damage to a diamond sword (and more), is very accurate if you know what you're doing, and a single power I enchant is very powerful.

It needs more range though, or another weapon with long range
I like the idea but considering the wither and the creepers,i'd say that a flying, berserk beast as the Death Flyer would be a bit too much, but i like the idea of eagles and/or hawks flying in the sky.
The bow only lacks accuracy if you are a terrible shot. I can hit a silverfish from 15 blocks away about half the time.
Distance targets just take practice - go build yourself a shooting range.

I can hit a Enderdragon Healer from more than 80 blocks away. Bows are very OP currently.
As for flying mobs, I would support a blue dragon (rare as Endermen, maybe more...spawns only in Extreme Hills and Deserts) as long as said dragon was not OP and had a use.
Birds would need a use before being added. Mojang has a tendency not to add useless things. (with some exceptions.)
