Minecraft 1.3.1
+ Single-player now runs a server internally
1.3.1 added this feature to the game but here are a few problems I've run into with this little do-hicky...
-Creepers respond strangely and don't properly reset their self destructive timer when at the proper distance
-Glitching terrain
--Lighting glitches are now more common
--mobs and player now more likely to glitch through blocks
-Item and block lag
--there is now a delay from when a block is mined to when it actually breaks
--discarded or mined entities don't properly display their positions in the overworld
--entities don't properly move around when placing blocks
There's more reasons why I think this feature should be made optional but I can't think of them at the moment. If anyone else would like to provide feedback it would be appreciated.
I think this is less of a disable server feature and more of a fix bugs feature. Any bugs now you encounter should be occurring on single player, internal servers, or online multiplayer. It was one of the core concepts of merging all the coding into one unit, so they weren't doubling the bug features they were fixing.
I could be misunderstanding the suggestion, but to my knowledge, a glitch that occurs in current single player is truly a glitch, not attributed to the internal server or any other features. Granted, the glitch may have occurred during the process of merging the two, but all that means then is it needs to be solved.
You can't just turn the new internal server feature on or off. Singleplayer and multiplayer used to be two separate modes. As of 1.3.1, they are one and the same.
