Pigs can now carry players, so why not other things!?
Like minecarts, I believe saddles should be able to be crafted with certain utility items, that could then be carried by the pigs you put the saddle on.
For example, you could place a crafting-saddle on a pig to have a 3x3 crafting grid being lead around by a carrot on a stick.
EDIT: As mentioned by Benjamin5349, the conflict with right-clicking, and for balance would mean pigs wearing a utility saddle would no longer be rideable.
Utility saddles could be crafted like so:
Crafting Saddle. (crafting table, transported by a pig)
Smelting Saddle. (furnace, transported by a pig)
Saddlepack. (chest carried by a pig. Possibly with very limited space)
Brewing Saddle. (brewing stand transported by a pig)
Other saddles are available, depending on the addition of utility blocks.
Pigs with utility saddles would still be able to be lead around by wheat and/or carrots on a stick.
I think this addition would be fair, especially if chests are nerfed when put on a pig, because pigs are only controllable by certain items (so you can not mine and lead a pig around without constantly switching items) at a restricted range, and are very easily killed by falls.
Please leave all criticisms, and thank you for reading.
If you're riding a pig, will other pigs follow your carrot-on-a-stick? If so, having a couple of pack-piggies on long journeys would be extremely useful.
To prevent it from becoming 'overpowered' would saddles upgraded with a chest or such become unrideable? I guess they would have to to avoid a coflict between riding/activating when you right click it.

"Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled Trainers should try to win with the Pokémon they love best."

Thanks for mentioning that. I was wondering about this, but I decided to leave it out. Considering the size of each block that can be put on a pig, it's not very possible to fit yourself on the pig as well, so no: You cannot ride a pig with a utility saddle.
Why a nerf to chests? I still approve this post if the pigs have the whole block in the back ftw!
Ender Chests are currently used as a "second inventory", and I feel that if pigs could carry around full-sized chests as well, people would find the Ender chest less useful, because the rarity of Eyes of Ender is more than that of saddles (in my experience). Not to mention that ender chests require a diamond pick to craft.
However, a pig is a lot less reliable than a block, so the Ender chest would have an advantage either way. I don't mind if full chests could be put on a saddle, but I do think it would be over-powered.
How about... CARROT SADDLES! Craft a saddle with a carrot and you get a saddle that allows you to control pigs without a carrot-on a stick!
Pros:
Can use bows/swords while riding without your pig stopping.
Cons:
You cannot stop your pig without getting off it.
That's a good idea, but I can't really agree; I think the best balancing feature of rideable pigs is that it disables use of other items. You should make your own thread about that, this thread is about adding utility blocks to saddles.
