So, all the other dimensions have bosses except for the Nether, which I think has the most potential.
The Boss Room:
The Boss Room should be near the center of the Nether and be 50x50 blocks with a lava pool in the middle. The lava pool should be relatively large but not taking up most of the room.
The Boss:
The boss is a giant lava snake! Its eyes are glowing red and on fire. The snake itself is made mostly of lava and red snake scales. It should be moderately long (50 blocks long) and have a good bulk to it, to make it look less like a giant line and more like a terrifying snake! The boss has ~250 or so hearts. The snake always stays about half submerged in the pool of lava. The snake is immune to all fire damage.
Attacks:
The boss jolts out of the lava pool when the player has gotten about 8 blocks away. Lava goes all over the room, setting the blocks on fire, the player could put the flames out of course. The snake has 2 attacks; shooting fire balls and ramming into the player. When the snake rams into the player and misses, a few blocks are destroyed from the impact. If hit with either attack, the player takes a good chunk of damage (3 or so hearts) and be knocked back a few blocks.
Damaging The Boss:
To actually kill the snake, you need to first shoot both of its eyes with a bow, dealing a slight amount of damage. The snake then falls to the ground, where you can attack it with a sword. After about a good 2 or 3 hits, the snake gets angry and spawns 2 mini lava snakes, which can slither around the room and ram into the player. The mini snakes are relatively easy to kill and deal minimal damage, but are very fast. After the boss spawns the snakes, it dives back into the lava and appears anywhere in the Nether in a lava pool (near land so you can attack with the sword after you shoot its eyes, of course).
Defeating The Boss And Rewards:
After the boss gets down to ~20% health, it will stop jumping lava pools and will go on a rampage, attacking slightly faster and spawning more snakes. After the boss is out of health, it will flail around, trying to kill the player in a last-ditch effort. It will eventually start to cool and curl up, turning black. The surrounding lava will cool and turn into cobblestone. The snake then explodes, shooting fire everywhere and raining down a nice 10,000 experience points and some snake scales (also dropped by the mini snakes, although semi rarely ~5% drop chance) which can be used to create snakeskin armor, armor that is almost as strong as diamond and is resistant to fire damage.
What do you guys think? I was thinking about naming him, The Nether Wrecker lol. Please comment your thoughts or any better names for him!
It looks cool, you should code it into a mod or get someone else to. I don't think they would add it in game though. If you could show pictures more people would apay attention to it also.
there is no "center of the nether". and its also dumb how the snake escapes its "Cage" and pops up all over the nether.
the main idea i here is that the only dimension without a boss is the nether. the end only has a boss because it was MADE for the enderdragon, and the new "wither" in 1.4 can be spawned in any dimension.
and i really dont support scale armor of any kind.
I cant mod at all and i dont know how i would be able to make it for a screenshot. Im really just more like a newb that hadwhat i thought was a good idea, guess not:D just wanted to get my thoughts out here

I do not support.

other than that, your idea sounds cool.
