I like the idea and all, but can't this problem be rectified with multiple furnaces?
No, it can't. Not if you want to smelt 4 gold and 4 iron (for example).
With furnaces as they currently are, you have to either waste 1 whole coal/charcoal (half wasted for each item) or burn 16 saplings (8 for each stack of 4 items).
With a queue, you could put both stacks of 4 and one coal into the furnace and the furnace would automatically switch between the stacks without wasting coal.

You can still use wooden planks and logs, although I assume people don't often use that as fuel as much as they do with coal.
Overall, I still support the idea. And I love the fact that you must go to the Nether to get what's needed for these new furnaces. Well done, nearbeer.

Hey, you there. Yes, you! Are you thinking about posting a suggestion on the forums anytime soon? If so, please read this before doing so.
The furnaces should be limited, we don't want to be overloaded with all these types of furnaces. I think the brick furnace should cook a bit slower but allow more items to be queued, so it is balanced a little.
I agree with that too. I just like to throw out all potential ideas. However, I think brick furnaces shouldn't be balanced like that since the cost is more than a cobble furnace.

i don't know if it is a silly sugestion but maybe a End furnaces that can "teleport" cooked items to a nearby chest but has still the max. of 8 slots ?
That would be more trouble than it's worth. It's best to just to visit your furnaces, observe and collect what's inside then get your XP. Rather than look around in your chests to see what appeared in there. Not to mention you might forget what you had in some furnaces.

Have you ever wanted to cook 4 pork and 4 beef with one coal? Well you can't, because once the first set of items are cooked, there's a brief delay where you have to put the other in, causing you to only get 7 meats from one coal because the heat will end abruptly before the second set of meats are done being cooked. To solve this, I suggest a "queue" where you may slot items so that once the current item is smelted, put into a reserved slot for finished items, and then that queued item begins to be smelted thus allowing for 4 pork and 4 beef per one coal. It also allows for easier mass smelting of items should you want to smelt 128 cobble per furnace while you were away.
(Credit to Jim_Puff) New tier(s) of furnaces could be added via these queue slots. A brick furnace could queue in perhaps 4 slots, which finally adds a good use of clay harvesting. Recipe would be a hollow square of bricks, just like cobble. I think the normal furnace still should have ONE queue slot, as I demonstrated in my meat situation. And I dunno about diamond, gold, etc. furnaces. It would make the brick furnace lose purpose. (Credit to Voldemort) Netherrack could be a new tier, maybe 8. I would like to rethink that and suggest the recipe could be:
Which adds a use to the nether bricks. Netherrack doesn't have to be there (air), I just thought another use for another useless block would be nice. Makes sense, too should BRICK (nether BRICK) furnaces be added.
It's ok people necro from time to time (happy you did it anyways >.>).
But why do you not support the netherbrick furnace? Just curious.
If a netherbrick furnace with 8 queue slots was added, I think there would have to be a limit concerning the sum of what is being cooked. It needs upsides and downsides.
Also, what if there was a furnace with a fuel queue? So for burning 11 iron you could use a coal and 2 planks rather than burning 2 coal.
I love this idea, but like the Ender Chest, I think this may be called the Ender Furnace or something if implementing which leads me to think why not add an Ender Pearl to the mats? Support either way and I think maybe a 4 queue for fuel as well as a 4 queue for smelting. To OP?

I think I have to agree with zippy to be honest; and if you were to make a classic styled ender furnace it'd be just too small of a storage space to make worth.

Interesting, but technically there already is a furnace fuel queue, since when you drop a fuel into the furnace it activates the little fire icon so you can consecutively use two fuels without costing any time.

Ergo, Full Support.
