Tired of torches ruining your large rooms? Having to spam them everywhere to keep the light level above 8.
Well fret no more, with this suggestion we fix that!
My idea is basically super torches. Well... Basically super lights. The name may be deceiving as they aren't necessarily super but more powerful.
It works like this, say you have a light source block in your inventory. You just went to the Nether and now have tons and tons of glowstone dust but don't know quite what to do with it because you have so much. Well, this suggestion makes it so that when you place a light source block and a glowstone dust in the crafting area, it'll boost that light sources by doubling it.
The object that comes out is called a "Super Torch, Glowstone, Redstone Lamp, etc"
Here's an example of what I mean.
I think the idea would be simple and effective.
Thanks for reading!
I think double is too high. Maybe an additional half?
There could also be a sort of 'Ultra Light Block' that is only accesable by using commands or mods, and is for adventure maps.

I hate people who complain. I hate spiders. I hate people who own an Xbox One. I hate people who like sandbox games. I hate people who like first person shooters. I hate people who like explosions. I hate people who like video games. I hate people who are hateful. I hate people that don't like spam. I hate people who like cake. I hate people who type in proper grammar and spell words properly on the internet. I hate hypocrites.
That wouldn't work either because light diminishes by 1 level per block. It's coded to be that way.
This, plus I don't see why people don't get floor, wall, and ceiling lighting. Yes, you can have torches all over the place, or you can have redstone lamps or glowstone all over the place, but most people don't do things like this:
Or wall lighting in a similar fashion:
See, this provides ample lighting that's aesthetically pleasing. But for some reason many people who talk about extending the area of torches or making new torches with a larger radius never think of this. I even place some lamps inside fountains for better aesthetics.
You could spam torches:
Or you could make current lighting methods more aesthetically pleasing. I don't understand how this is a big problem.

I find glowstone and redstone lamps to be kind of ugly. :/ And that's not really fixing the whole spam, that's just spamming a different light source than a torch. But thanks for the reply!

Well, there's a definite aesthetic difference: lamps and glowstone, being actual blocks, can be used it a greatly larger number of combinations to produce better lighting. Like I said, I sometimes place them inside fountains. Plus, two lamps in a vertical column can be lit up by a single redstone torch underneath them, making for some interesting panels. It looks so much better to spam cubes in places that look aesthetically pleasing than to spam torches.

I definitely agree with that. I enjoy fireplaces too.. very nice way of lighting. Anyways thanks for the feedback.

Retired StaffThey probably meant the radius of the light.

Couldn't they simply code the block/light source to diminish one light level per two blocks?
