Like many others are saying, killstreaks would just simply ruin minecraft. It's supposed to be a sandbox game, where you work your way up. Killstreaks would simply turn it into a competitive style game, and that really isn't what minecraft is about. I like the concept, it just wouldn't fit though.
What about as an option for admins to turn on in SMP?
Options, options, options. Simply a fallback if people don't like your idea.
Not everything should be 'optional'.
In SMP, most things are optional. Server admins have an array of plugins to choose from to help them run their server. I feel that Mojang should add this idea to that list.
This idea is so broken and has absolutely no thought put into.
Here is an example of a situation:
Two people, A and B, team up.
A and B both set their bed spawns next to each other.
A kills B.
B immediately respawns and kills A.
Repeat process over and over and over.
A and B are both invincible.
And so are everyone else on the server.
*facepalm*
If they're killing each-other, then it wouldn't be kill-streaking.

Guys, if no one likes this idea, just let it drift down the page to make room for other ideas that might be better. No sense in keeping this one alive. I frankly can't believe it has gotten to be Hot.

In this thread i will be detailing how i believe PVP could be improved through the use of killstreaks. Upon killing a player in SMP you would earn one "killstreak point". These are redeemable at any time by pressing a button on your keyboard, which will bring up a GUI allowing you to use them.
(Haven't decided what button yet)
1 Kill- Invulnerability for 3 seconds
2 Kills- Invulnerability for 8 seconds
3 Kills- Any armour you are wearing and any weapon you are holding is enchanted to the maximum possible level for 1 minute
4 Kills- Invulnerability for 12 seconds
5 Kills- Minimap showing all enemy player coords for 10 minutes
6 Kills- Regen II + Fire Resist Potion II + Strength Potion + Speed Poition for 10 minutes
7 Kills- Invulnerability for 20 seconds, invisibility for 1 minute
8 Kills- Minimap for one hour
9 Kills- Minimap for an hour + the 6 kill streak
10 Kills- Lightning strike dealing 10 full hearts of damage to any player/mob
11 Kills- Streaks 9+7
12 Kills- Invulnerability for 50 seconds, Invisibility for 5 minutes, Night vision toggalable for 30 minutes + Streak 10 + Minimap for 1 hour
15 Kills- Invulnerability for 2 minutes, Invisiblity for 10 minutes + streak 9
20 Kills- 5x Streak 10
25 Kills- 10x Streak 10
30 Kills- Summon charged creeper horde to any coord on the map (horde=30 of them)(they will NOT despawn)
40 Kills- Streak 30 +Streak 25 + Streak 15
50 Kills- 50x lightning strike on any player + minimap for 12 hours +invulnerability for 15 minutes + Invisibility for 2 hours + Streak 6 + Streak 30
Any thoughts on how this could be implemented/improved? Let me know in the thread.
Thanks guys.
this could be taken advantage of by any team, by having one kill the other. i suggest you go into what armour they are wearing and how many kills the OTHER person has or in cod: KDR.
*Hic* Daaaaaaaauuuummmmmnnnnn Maaaaannnnn Dis Is a GRAT Idea Brooooo *Hic* Mabey if you get 100 kills you can have infinet diamondzz adn Maybay adminz? *Takes another swig of achohol* Dayum, almozt Utta Bo0ze...
You have 5 pages of coherent oppostion. In every one of your threads you ignore any and all legitimate criticism about OPness and not fitting into Minecraft. I'ts clear you are just trolling at this point.

"Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled Trainers should try to win with the Pokémon they love best."
Seriously, mods, lock this piece of utter garbage and ban the OP for obvious reasons.
It's bad enough that you called them "kill streaks". PvP is not important nor necessary in minecraft, a server plugin/mod would be the only suitable way to have this implemented. Just because someone "wants" something to be added to vanilla minecraft doesn't mean that it will be.
Do you really want sanity, thirst, happiness, heat, exhaustion, temperature, mana, star, power up, sprint, tiredness, weight and time bars?
No.
It isn't a bad idea but it's unnecessary and unbalances the PVP system. Plus, Minecraft shouldn't encourage murder.
How does this encourage murder and why is encouraging it a bad thing?
Murder is bad.
Why do you think killing people is good?
I understand it's a game but still... Killing people should NOT give you buffs.

So how would you balance it?
Please coherently state why you oppose the idea.
If they're killing each-other, then it wouldn't be kill-streaking.
