I was thinking that minecraft could use another biome. the biome i thinking of is, as the title suggests, a Himalayan basically i believe this should resemble a cluster of large snowy mountains who's peaks would probably go to to a max level of 200-220.
Possible Additions
Weather:
Blizzard - an aggressive version of slow falling almost side-wards.
Items
Goat horns- dropped by goats (any idea for a use, maybe a horn?)
Structures:
Ancient temple: a temple based at a relatively high section of the mountain, which could be guarded by a variety of mobs. would have a room dedicated to loot
Monastery: inhabited by monks
(this is what i believe they resemble) inhabited by villagers
Yeti cave: an icy cave with icicles and crevices that is inhabited by yeti's (with chest a with loot)
Mobs:
Mountain goat - a passive mob that prances around the mountains terrain. (drops horns, wool)
Yeti - a 2.5 block high and 1.5 block wide mob. hostile to mountain goats and will attempt to invade monasteries
.
Villagers - inhabits the monasteries
Blocks:
Icicle - a non solid block that hang from the ceiling of an ice cave, maybe sprinting could make them likely to fall and injure the player
I like this idea. The only way I usually find mountains is by using seeds, so this would benefit me. I agree with gabrieldowinton, that would be cool if there was loot, or maybe something to make in the temples/yeti caves to make it worth going in there. Or even if there were some other traps like the icicle to make it harder for players.
Improve them to have this ****, why the hell make a new biome?

Ok, ok. I'm not trying to be mean, but you lost me at monks. Why not just have normal villagers? Heck, why are they on the side of a mountain? I'm just saying, Minecraft mountains are wide, but not THAT wide. Also, two things about hyperthomia. One, what does this effect do to the player? Lose health, hunger? Two, you said you get this affect when not wearing goat armour, So you can't protect yourself from yettis with your diamond armour or your'll freeze to death? From what your saying, you get hyperthomia RIGHT when you enter the biome, and will have it until your wearing goat armour. Also, you can't wear other armour. Brilliant.
I like the idea of giant snowy mountains, I've always wanted my home to be located in something like this. However, I don't like the whole idea of hypothermia. I wouldn't want to have to wear goat armor just to go into one of these biomes. The biome name itself could use work, though that's not really so important. In future, I would recommend proper capitalization, spelling, and grammar in your posts, as many people ignore threads without these.
I'd like to see a new mountain biome but this doesn't seem too far from extreme hills other than the new additions.
What about a biome dedicated to a single peak? The mountain, like say Olympus Mons on mars, would take up the entire biome with a central peak somwhere near the middle of the biome. Also these could either be a snow peak or a massive crater with lots of obsidian veins running down the sides of the mountain top. Perhaps even a lava caldera inside the crater for the volcanic biome.
I support your idea because I'd like to see more realistic mountains and possibly mountain ranges. I just don't know if yeti caves and temples should be part of it.

Edit:What exactly does hypothermia do, anyway?
Hypothermia is where your blood freezes
Hyperthermia is where your blood boils
How about the monks are a different type of villagers?
That would be cool and then you could trade with them as well so they would have a good use!
I like the idea of what youmhave, keep up the good work.
Okay--THIS IS AN AMAZING IDEA. But it shouldn't be called the Himalayas biome--probably like the Snowy Mountains Biome or Snow Peaks. Also I think you added a bit too many extras--the mountainside monasteries should be combined with the ancient temples--ancient monasteries. The mountain goats is a cool idea, but they should just drop wool, and the hypothermia is pushing it--maybe the cold should slow you down but thats really it. And the yetis.......... maybe the Yeti could be the 3rd boss, and there should be BEARS! That spawn here, taiga, and forest biomes.
They should take extreme hills and replace it with this. Here's another idea: Trees grow in it up until a certain height level. Once that height level is reached (maybe 100 or something) it starts to snow (or blizzard) and get really steep. The max height should be around 210-220.
i think if hopothermia was included it would probably just slow you down.
maybe instead of goat armour you could just make a hot suit to cancel out the effects of it?
thanks for the feedback keep it up

Then, you can have your cake and please the thousands of people who want a new terrain generator.
(Ice caves and yetis would be better suited to tundras/ice plains.)
I know what it does in real life, but what would it do in the game? Make you move slower? Constant damage? Faster depleting hunger bar?
