Well, this suggestion is a better AI system for our friends the wolf, the ocelot, and the golems.
Wolfs, they are man's best friend! Right? Well, wrong! Wolves have a few prone tendencies to jump into lava, jump off cliffs and run into cacti. So, how to fix these suicidal mutts? Give them a few simple block avoiding AI. Wolves should be granted an AI that helps them avoid lava, cactus blocks, and block hieghts over 3 blocks.
What about or friendly feline ocelot pals? Add similar AI that the wolves be granted, avoiding lava, cactus, and high block heights.
Now, what about Frosty and Iron Man? Golems deserve more than just attacking threats. Snow golems, they die to a lot of things. Rain, water, the Nether, deserts, and they truely can't defend themselves. So what to add? An AI that lets them run from these terrors. Similar to the undead fleeing from the sun's evil rays, snow golems would run away from deserts, rain and water, a similar AI for cats and dogs. And, snow golems could defend themselves by having thier snow balls deal half a heart's worth of damage. Iron golems are pretty smart currently, but they to enjoy doing things to themselves that kill themselves, so a similar AI to wolves, ocelots and frosty.
So, how about some smarter Utilities and Pets?
Summary: Wolves, ocelots, and golems gain AI to flee away from things that harm them. Cats hiss and run at creepers to scare them away, and snow golems get to hurt mobs.
I fully support the tameable and utility mobs having better path AI. The part where cats approach and hiss at Creepers does makes sense in some ways, but I don't think it's the worth the time to add something like that.

Actually, I sort of retract my previous statement. There are hissing sounds for Ocelots in the game files, so it could still be some use to what you're suggesting.

That is true. I'll update the main post then.
