The Village generation is kind of crappy from my point of view. It looks ugly, disorganized, and in some biomes out of place. I think that the structural generation should change with the biome along with matterails used. Adding more NPC type along with differnt type of villages instead of one that just gets retextured with it biome. Suggestions to make it better:
I think that dessert villages should be peblos where all the structures are conjoined with a courtyard/market in the center and all the doors and windows face inward towards the central open area.
Snow Biomes should try to follow a nordic look where a small wall sorounds the village and a very large town hall in the middle filled with a large seat at the end of a long table. A besserker would be spawned (villager like mob who will attack you with a heavily enchanted axe which can not be picked up) that will try to kill you if you steal and will assist the iron golem in defending against hostile mobs.
The regular villages (which i think are based off of fuedal fifes) can stay the same ,but if they get big enough a casle/fort (increasing in size with the size of the vilage) should spawn with it. This could be filled with a manner of diffent things including wepons and armor. Soldiers are spawned and are just like besserkers but are much weaker and spawn in small troops in each village caslte up to 4.
In mountain biomes we could have mining town spawn next to cliffs and at the bases of moutains. the main features of a mining town are a verticle or horizontal shaft (depending on where it's located) that look like abandoned mines but a better lit and have ladder/stair access, and then a much larger (not neccessarily more stocked) blacksmith building that house 10-15 furnaces. In this vilage type Miners could be spawned that go up and down the the shafts and tunnels of their mine (I don't know how much good actually having them mining something would help).
Fishing villages can spawn near water and have 1-3 docks with chests with boats, fishing poles, and fish cooked or uncooked. A fisher men could be spawn who trade fish and fishing equipment in return for string (for rods).
In forests a small bandint camp could spawn with 1-2 small structures with very hostile NPCs that might attack you if you come close unless you through gold bars toward them to befriend them to begin trading of some valuable goods that would be found in other vilage types. Bandints will try to go on small raiding parties and will take things from the other villages (being targeted by defensive mobs but are ignored by iron golems) that might be close by. The things they take will usausly be sold to you for a lower cost than buying them strait from the villages, a black market of sorts.
Tree house villages could be formed in rain forests where large platforms are generated around abnormally high trees. small huts and platform wide houses would be the houses and the platforms would be connected be bridges and stairs, and would have fences around them to prevent accidental NPC suicide. this would have to be modelly generated with it affecting the trees to be taller or shorter to aviod having one part of the vilage disconnected due to hight differences.
the creatation of a mechant NPC that travels in groups sometimes accompanied by a soldier from village to village colecting the specific items that that purticular village produces. Like ores from mining towns, fish from fishing villages, coco beans from the rain forest people.
Adding on to a village will increase the spawn rate of NPCs and building or adding more of the special stuctures to increase local production or just have atleast one (like build a stone brick caslte so soldiers spawn).

so your saying the villager should do nothing if you decide to destroy their entire village? They defencive NPCs don't even have to look like villagers (maybe pigmen), but they're are kinda hopeless right now. I'm just saying there should be a consquence with actually destroying they're village. Bandints just seem kinda of cool idea in my opinion, they aren't as reliable you have to pay them gold upfront just to start to trade with them and they may try to kill you anyway.

Same for the bandits camp. I dont like the bersiker villager thing i mean what will stop it from responing i dont wanto fight it evry time i come back to the village. the mining cam villages should hav the mine fixed up with mine cart going evrywer.

I'm not saying build some huge structure but just a 2-3 story high castle/keep. they build houses and stone guard houses right? why not something little bigger.

I'm not saying build some huge structure but just a 2-3 story high castle/keep. they build houses and stone guard houses right? why not something little bigger.
I think villages should grow over time (to a limit) particularly if you trade with them.
And there should be a craftable/tradable? village spawning block. Lay it down, some villagers pop out it turns into a well and they start building around it.

Completely agree with this idea. Villages need to be able to grow get stringer have guards and so on and they do need new buildings based on terrain right now they're kind-of ugly based of where they are.
