Recently, I was thinking about the past of Minecraft. I remembered that the adventure update was supposed to make exploring more fun. But it failed. Most people talk about the nerfed terrain when they say this. That's a completely different topic, but to those who talk about that, don't give up! They've already begun to un-nerf some of their mistakes. But one more thing ruined minecraft that fateful day, THE HUNGER BAR!All jokes aside, once they add better terrain, the hunger bar will keep people from exploring it efficiently. My solution is to add steeds to the game.
Technically they don't need to be added, most of the components are already there. You can already sit on a pig, but you can't control it. My suggestion is to make pigs controllable. This way, you will be able to explore the terrain without it draining your hunger bar.
I know what you're thinking, pigs are as common as sand, that would be too overpowered. This is in fact, not the case. While pigs are common, saddles are only attainable through generated chests, making them trophy items at the moment. So while pigs are common, saddles aren't, evening this out.
NOTE: This next section is a completely different suggestion, and should be treated as such. This other suggestion may be considered a bit overpowered, but hear me out. While you could ride your piggy warrior into the nether, he wouldn't be much help, since he can't fly. So my next suggestion is to allow you to tame and ride a Ghast with a saddle. I know what you think, you think this will be too overpowered, but think about it: First you need to get a Ghast close enough to get a saddle on it. (no easy task with explosions everywhere) Then once you do that, you have to navigate the nether while being attacked by other Ghasts. (Aided by your 1 shot kill fireballs by the right click of course.) Then when you get to your destination, what's to stop the Ghast from flying away with your saddle? You have to kill it to get it back (also added) and then when you want to leave, you need to repeat the process again! In what way does that seem overpowered? (For those of you who are worried about greifers destroying the overworld with Ghasts, don't worry, they don't fit through portals.)

I hate people who complain. I hate spiders. I hate people who own an Xbox One. I hate people who like sandbox games. I hate people who like first person shooters. I hate people who like explosions. I hate people who like video games. I hate people who are hateful. I hate people that don't like spam. I hate people who like cake. I hate people who type in proper grammar and spell words properly on the internet. I hate hypocrites.

No one has problems with exploring the terrain with a food bar. No one at all.
Although, they ARE adding controllable pigs in the next update, most likely.

That, is cool but extremely OP >.<
Ghasts wouldn't make much sense. They're hostile creatures. Why would putting a saddle on them make them like you all of the sudden?
