I have a couple of ideas and I was curious what the community would think about them. Here they are.
I am curious what the addition of EARTHQUAKE and EXTREME WEATHER activity might do to the gameplay.
In terms of both let me explain.
Earthquakes: The idea being that at random times during gameplay the world would suddenly begin to shake violently. This would cause random areas of ground to split open revealing hidden ravines for you to search. The downside is that it could make gameplay tougher since you would have to be conscious of the fact that at any moment your structures could be torn to pieces by extreme Earthquakes.
I think it would also make underground mining a lot more horrifying since you could be searching through a deep abandoned mineshaft and suddenly the world begins to rip itself apart.
Extreme Weather: This would be a build up on the current weather physics of the game. Basically you take normal weather patterns and multiply the effect it has on the environment.
Examples...
Rain could build up and cause flash floods that would flow downhills (You would need to build all towns and homes with protective barriers and drain systems to prevent flooding)
Snow would build up to much higher levels and require clearing paths to survive. Suddenly your small village at the side of that snowy mountain could be completely covered by the extreme snow fall.
Forest fires caused by lightning strikes:
Lightning is already a factor in the game but I think it would be interesting if a sudden lightning strike could cause a chain reaction in forests leading to large forest fires. This would mean the player would have to either world to put out the flames or build walls and barriers to limit the damage.
These all would of course make gameplay much more difficult and would probably be options only available in the hardest setting.
That being said I think it could really make the game an interesting experience. What do you think?

A way to control this is to possibly make it a Hardcore only feature. Or at the very least you have to be playing Hard Mode.
Maybe on the hardest difficulty setting. And only if it was possible, however difficult, to quake-proof structures. However I doubt that Minecraft possesses the physics capability for earthquakes and it sounds like something that would require a major re-working of how the game works to implement.
