As you all know, cows are superior over pigs in every single way, as they give you the same amount of meat plus more. How would I solve this problem? By making pigs give birth to 1-3 pigletts at a time, making them the best meat farming animal, which they always used to be before the hunger system was implemented. There it is, a very simple way of buffing pigs. It's even realistic, as pigs get quite a few pigletts at a time.
This would make pigs a rather overpowered food source. You'd get so many porkchops you wouldn't know what to do with them all. I think my suggestion (linked in my sig) is a more reasonable method for correcting this problem, plus it would correct another long-standing problem as well.
I agree. Cows having several uses, including one that is identical to the one use of the pig is ridiculous.
If this was implemented, it would be more efficient to keep a few cows, and have a large amount of pigs to raise for bacon.
EDIT: that's a very nice thread advertisement you have there, reasonable and logical as that suggestion is.
I see no problem with advertising my idea in this thread since it is directly relevant to the content of this thread and I don't feel like typing the whole idea out again. It seems likely that the OP of this thread would be interested in reading other ideas on how to correct this problem. I know I would have no objections to someone doing something similar in my own thread.
Yeah, I read your thread before making this one myself, and it's related so the advertisment is fine. I didn't want to post in your thread, because it seemed to be more about leather than pigs, but I do like your idea, it's great.
This idea does have some merit, in that it mimics the real-life behavior of pigs. However, I think in order for this to be implemented in a balanced way, the porkchop item would need to be nerfed in order to balance out the massive increase in abundance that would accompany this change. This would mean making the porkchop an inferior individual food item to steak, which would make sense if the steak was then reduced in abundance as I suggested in my thread. Steak would be the rarer but more 'powerful' food, and porkchops would be 'weaker' but much more common. This would also somewhat mimic the real-life relationship between these two food items, as steak is generally more expensive and considered more of a 'luxury item' than porkchops.

Actually, I rather like this idea.
