I have been thinking about this since adventure mode has come out and now there is the command block in 1.4. But my idea is have invisible redstone circuit's, repeaters, and torches that can only be seen in creative mode but invisible in survival/adventure so you can create a map with traps that are not seen. I believe this can be helpful for survival maps and other maps like that. Maybe even invisible pressure plates to help activate the redstone. Let me know what you think.
Really good redstone traps = Invisible

Im awesome at redstone its mostly to be used to create dificulties using the command block there are 101 ideas that i can use invisible redstone for I can either A.) Get a mod for this or B.) Create my own but i want to be able to hide stuff so i can trigger an event to happen when someone reaches a part of the map with out them trying to avoid it with out mods. .... Reading this sounds confusing but its the only way i put it at the moment
I've made some pretty sweet contraptions without exposing any redstone. However, these elaborate traps take up quite a bit of space just to hide all that redstone, and are easily predictable when trying to create artificial land scapes, like buildings and such. You really have to use your brain when making these things, especially if you don't want to see the underlying mechanics.
Here's a few tips...
If you're gonna build an elaborate contraption, it would be best created in a cave, or some other area where you can simply cover it up with rocks (it's a cave, nobody's really gonna know the difference unless you made it obvious).
If you're running a large line of redstone through a path, try running it under the path, and covering it up. Think about it... this would apply to real life as well. When was the last time you saw a bunch of uninsulated live wires just snaking their way across your living room? Never, at least I hope you haven't, because it is buried underground (if not, you need to get the heck out of that house).
Redstone, when bordering an object, can make it look like a ritual happened there. By turning on the redstone, you could add cinematic effect to that area. Keep this in mind when making redstone circuits, as snaking it across the ground may not be such a bad idea if done correctly. Likewise, you can simply have powered redstone circling an object just for the looks, with no real purpose other than to look cool. This can be achived by digging and burying a redstone torch, and placing redstone on the block directly above it, (I would recommend 2 torches on each side to balance the coloring, or more if it is a larger pattern).
And of course, don't make obvious traps, like the switch that is obviously lined to that dispencer right next to you. And don't expose tripwire hooks.
