READ THIS FIRST POST BEFORE COMMENTING, THE TITLE IS NOT EVEN HALF THE STORY
I still so no legitimate reason it is still impossible to get water in the nether. I know what you are going to say "but it is hell and it is hot" but last I checked this game is not meant to be realistic it is meant to be fun, if you want realistic, creepers would explode themselves into extinction, trees would take hours and hours to mature (minecraft years), crops would take a full minecraft year to be ready to harvest, snow and ice blocks would not work out very well in the nether, need I mention more? And still even if it was about a realistic reasoning if you were to bring enough water into a place not matter how hot eventually it would have to cool down enough to get liquid water flowing, so that argument is still not 100% valid. Also maybe the nether is not hell, maybe it is just another univers that did not spread out as much as the overworld so all the energy is less spread out making it hotter.
Now I am not saying it should be easy to get water in the nether, I am just saying it should be possible to get water in the nether with survival gameplay without cheating. I am not sure what would be the best way to do it, perhaps make ice blocks work the same way they used to before they were obtainable, or add an entirely new item or something, but honestly I do not really care how it is made possible to get water in the nether as long as it is possible.
Edit 1: Okay apperently most of you are not reading this right, so I will emphisize again IT COULD BE REALLY HARD TO GET WATER IN THE NETHER AND COULD BE MADE SO YOU HAVE TO GET EACH INDIVIDUAL BLOCK YOU PLACE.
Edit 2: here are the points I just made scine apperently (based on the responses) nobody has been reading this post, just the title 1) It can be hard to get water there 2) this game is supposed to be creative and fun, not just whatever makes sense 3) even if the game is supposed to be completely realistic, it would still be possible to get water there
Here are extra points I need to add 1) if then nether cant have water, then the end should not get lava and water should freeze, there is no sun in the end, it is cold. You can not argue logic, because if water evaporates that fast in the nether, you would die quickly there because the body is 70% water. 2) you can not use water in the nether to cover an entire lake of lava with obisdian if it is hard to get one block in the nehter and you cant pick it back up 3) It does not allow for super blaze farms, blazes do not drop anything when killed by water, also hiding in the water would not work because blazes can punch also. 4) Water would not have to work the same in the nether as the overworld, it could be much more shallow and flow little to not at all and be nonrenewable while in the nether (much like lava in the overworld), and if made to not flow at all because of shalowness, could evaporate when the supporting block below is removed or just simply fall down like sand or gravel. Heck even be made boiling water when placed in the nether, making it do damage on cantact, but still be able to be used. It could also be made so water has to be a certian distance from a source block in order to keep flowing while in the nether
Edit 3: william 1134 "Maybe there could be netherwater, which runs red like blood but just evaporates when it its lava?" this could potentiall be a way of doing it without it being very bad.
Edit 4: "no one can tell you what you can or can not do" -minecraft trailer
Please read a post fully with an open mind before deciding it is stupid.
I like having no water in the Nether, it makes the Nether unique. Plus, everything there is dead/hot so having water in there would make it have some sort of "life" in it.
No support.

Like I said, tons of crap in this game does not make sense, like if there is no source for heat in the end how can lava and liwuid water exist there. And you can already grow forests and plant grass and all that other good stuff in the nether, as well as natural mushrooms being there, so there is already life in the nether.
This would be too overpowered. I can give two reasons right now:
1. Blazes, which are essentially pure fire, are hurt by water. This would lead to incredibly overpowered blaze spawner farms.
2. Turning the lava oceans into obsidian and walking across them. Need I say more?

If Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were all destroyed, 99% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 1% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens.
No I will not +1 you unless you say something worth +1ing. Respect is earned, not given.
The only reasons water isn't placeable in the nether is so that you can't make the lava oceans redundant and so that you can't very easily scale the many cliffs of the nether.
it... is...hell.... it is supposed to be dead hot, otherwise if water could be placed in the nether...why didn't zombiepigman make an aquapark from the beggining....

I still so no legitimate reason it is still impossible to get water in the nether. Balance reasons. So a single bucket of water doesn't turn the oceans of lava into an easy walk-over field of obsidian. Water would also make one hell of a grinder on Blaze spawners.

Realism in a game is only good when it's limited properly so that it doesn't dig into the flow of gameplay in an unfun manner.
Now I am not saying it should be easy to get water in the nether, I am just saying it should be possible to get water in the nether with survival gameplay without cheating. I am not sure what would be the best way to do it, perhaps make ice blocks work the same way they used to before they were obtainable Mojang deliberately made ice not give water in the Nether. I don't think they're gonna go back on that.

Hey, you there. Yes, you! Are you thinking about posting a suggestion on the forums anytime soon? If so, please read this before doing so.
Heck no. Are you serious? They made ice not give water in the nether for a reason, duh.
Nope.

Before they allowed ice to be broken by silk touch, ice was able to become water when broken. See what they're doing? They purposely made sure that there would be absolutely no way in vanilla minecraft that you could mine some ice and muck up the nether with water. I actually liked it when you could use ice in the nether because in servers you could make farms in the nether (we had a server store selling ice) But this would be way too overpowered in survival, because then people could just live in the nether forever.
There is a reason. That reason has been said by any people above. The Nether is NOT a luxury hotel. It is a land of fire, heat and dryness. I think nothing should grow there except neither warts.
NO SUPPORT
you would take away all the challenge of the nether, Minecraft is easy enough already, thats why i hope if sandworms are added there a difficult mob to kill.
That is why it could be hard to get it in the nether (like adding a new item that takes diamond blocks to make and is one time use specifically to place water in the nether) so that you cannot cover the lava like that easily. Also it would not make a good blaze grinder (I have tested it) because the only way a blaze will drop anything is if the player does the death blow (can be tested by using snow golems or iron golems against them also).
NO SUPPORT

Trust me, then nether is no where near easy in anything but single player and peaceful modes because it gets flooded with literally over 100 ghasts sitting around fire balling everybody who enters the realm on any server that does not have a mod to reduce their spawning in some form or another, water would not do much to help a player, but it would make surface movement without getting inevitably destroyed slightly easier. It is so much of a problem that anything that you can not mine to get in the nether is considered out of reach because everything on the surface is within the over 100 ghasts' ranges.
Mojang made water unobtainable in the nether, they even fixed the glitch for ice blocks.
Plus, most mobs there die because of water.
And, like someone else said, we dont need obsidian seas...
Easy Obsidian, easy lava lake crossing, easy blaze farm.
For the last just put the water behind a piston with a repeater so it comes out for a second or two, cuts the Blaze HP in half and then closes up so you can easily kill them with a blow or two of a mundane stone sword.
1- Obsidian lakes insted of lava lakes.
2. Would make blaze farms so much easier and over powered because they drop more xp than other mobs.
3- you could always get some ice with silktouch then downgrade and place the ice and have it melt then go back to your current version.
4- just doesnt go with the enviorment.
That is why it could be hard to get it in the nether (like adding a new item that takes diamond blocks to make and is one time use specifically to place water in the nether) so that you cannot cover the lava like that easily.
Like what everyone else is saying, water not working in the Nether is an intentional developer choice that probably won't be undone. A hard-to-get item that makes water there possible is unrealistically pointless. No one will use up valuable diamond blocks just to make some sort of "water spout" in the Nether. That's just stupid.

2 diamond blocks = infinite spring of water.
Obsidianize ALL the lava!

See Etho's blaze farm on the Mindcrack server.
Trust me, it CAN be done if you're capable enough, and it is unbelievably efficient.

Yeah, talk about over-exaggerating.
Ever heard of mob cap?
Or the strict spawning requirements of ghasts?
...water would not do much to help a player,
You're kidding, right?
Of course it would.
Water in the Nether:
-No drowning in lava while building a bridge over to another island to get glowstone.
-No more drowning in lava.
-No more drowning in lava.
-Practically immune to ghasts and blazes.
-Surface fire is no longer of any danger.
-Abrupt holes and chasms are no longer hard to get down to.
-Too many pigmen? Just wash them away!
-Need of an XP farm? Build one with blazes and water streams for a totally overpowered grinder!
-No more drowning in lava.
...but it would make surface movement without getting inevitably destroyed slightly easier.
Exactly what I said; no more drowning in lava.
It is so much of a problem that anything that you can not mine to get in the nether is considered out of reach because everything on the surface is within the over 100 ghasts' ranges.
Ever heard of bridging w/railing or pillaring w/walls?
Also, 100 ghasts is taking it too far.
No one believes you.
Overpowered, oversuggested, redundant, and gamebreaking.
