Hi! I got an idea about a World Regeneration. It's practically having the world regenerate. The things that will regenerate are: Holes in the ground would be filled up and turn to normal ground; Ores would spawn in specific locations; NPC village will be fixed by the villagers if there are some parts destroyed; floating tree trunk will drop of as a resource as long as it's natural and not made by the player; and waterfall would spawn on sides of cliffs or hills. But there is a rule for regeneration:
The world would regenerate holes back to land only IF:
It is untouched for a long time
There is nothing built in it
There is no water or lava in it
Ores regeneration:
Coal: On cave walls, floors, or ceilings
Iron: If there is nearby water
Gold: If there is nearby iron
Lapis: Anywhere in it's original altitude
Redstone: If there are nearby lava
Diamond: If there both water and lava nearby or under obsidian
*Ore regenerating rate depends on it's rarity and altitude **I don't really know about ores, so if you think you got a better rule for ore regeneration, please tell me!
Waterfall regeneration:
If there is nearby water spring, it would spread to the cliff and create a waterfall
If it's raining, a spring would spawn on cliff sides.
There would be the water sound
Lastly, I have an idea of oil. Oil would spawn in springs underground or rarely above ground. They would be the only liquid that can catch on fire. Oil will mostly spawn underground in oceans and jungles. It could only spawn above ground in jungles.
This is the oil interaction to other liquids: Lava
If oil flows horizontally to lava it would automatically burn
If oil flows vertically on lava it would cause and explosion and vice versa
Water
If oil flows horizontally to water it would just stop each other's flow
If oil flows vertically on water it would spread on water
If water flows vertically on oils, the oil would disappear an coal drops would come out
I know this would add alot more confusion and complexity to minecraft but it would help fix the problem in the adventure mode about creepers ruining the map and it would help you on that you wouldn't have to make new mines and worry about floating tree canopies in multiplayer.
Actually, world sort of repairing itself over time would make lots of sense, but not necessarily in the level of respawning ores and dirt layers; it would take too much time. It would make sense only if player could accidentally find nuggets of iron (there already are gold nuggets) in certain environments. Respawning whole ore blocks would not make sense, in my opinion, especially when the idea of MC is to explore and find new resources.
So far everything that happens is that grass spreads to exposed dirt blocks and sugar canes, vines and cacti grow back. Randomly respawning saplings would also make sense and I remember seeing a suggestion to that effect somewhere. Floating wood blocks could at least disappear because they would "rot away".
Villagers repairing damaged buildings would also make sense but would also be hard to implement - testiicates are apparently meant to be mostly passive. Testificates can recognize certain constructs as "houses" (and breed to occupy them) because they have doors but that's about it. However, because now MC has trade. there could be possibility to further testificate interaction. Maybe the player could increase the goodwill of testificates by rebuilding the damaged houses and expanding the village for the testificates' kids to occupy? However, I have no idea how this could be coded.
However, respawning water source blocks makes eminent sense, especially now when cauldrons can collect rainwater. Creeper holes could be filled with water in time (RL holes in the ground do and become ponds and lakes), certain crooks in mountains and hills could do the same (though this could be pain to code because MC would have to check dozens of blocks to find if there are suitable places for respawning water). Spreading water blocks could be a interesting idea; the flowing water erodes the rock and carves a new path for itself. However, this would ruin many people's waterfall-related buildings.
I think oil has been suggested elsewhere. Not bad idea as such (surface naptha deposits exists) but there should be a use for it as well (outside mod packs like Technic)
Possible solution, increase goodwill to the player whenever they detect a new building?
I like the idea of creeper holes refilling over time. I think that at least, it would be nice to add an animation for falling leaves, if not actual leaf cover in the ground to fill holes.
hummm... if ore generation was more realistic, diamonds could generate nearby coal cause they are both carbon... but I like it, but only if it's a mod.
