Since the desert doesn't have any plants in it other that cactus, what about palm trees? They could go on beaches near water. also in the screenshot I took when i was making the palm tree, and since I built it in a desert biome, the leaves were dry looking. The actual palm tree ( if someone takes this idea seriously) should have bright green leaves. Sorry about tinypic, screensnapr is down. http://tinypic.com/r/2z4bith/6
The color of plant life is determined by the biome itself. For example, even though grass looks darkish and pale in swamp biomes, it is the very same type of grass in jungles and plains. As for palm trees, decent idea, but deserts are deserts, they don't have plant life on them except for that which can survive without much water (palm trees would be some of the first to go). On beaches, palm trees would make sense, but it might as well be jungle trees.
