So I'm suggesting a new game mode: Nightmare Mode. It's like Ultra Hardcore.
However there are main differences.
Difficulty is equivalent to Hard with some differences.
-Skeletons and Zombies don't burn in the daylight.
-Slower health regeneration at rate of 1/2 per 8 seconds instead of 4 seconds.
-Longer night. Daytime is shorter.
-Hostile mobs spawn at light level of 9 instead of 7. Better fully light up your house!
-Passive mobs spawn 30% less often
-Hostile mobs spawn 20% more often
-Hunger depletes 30% faster.
Like Hardcore Mode, on death, a "Game Over" screen appears and you can't respawn and there's Delete World button.
i mean i would love a creeper Apocalypse, but i never dare play hardcore cause I like my buildings (which are huge) still have ALL my saves from beta even

But how about, a ''nightmare'' where you always spawn in an above-ground stronghold (2 rooms, both have wood doors on the outside), with an unbreaking sword and bow with infinity enchantment (unbreaking as in, they don't break at all). But outside, hordes of zombies are amassing to try to kill you, and also skeletons, zombie pigmen, spiders/cave spiders, and some blazes. Your hunger can not be depleted, but the rest is the same as suggested before. The only reason for playing is to see how long you can survive.

But perhaps, in Nightmare mode, there is no daylight. No, only darkness. That my friends, is a nightmare. Starting out on a beach in the black of night, surrounded by eyes glowing at you from the darkness.
This is a good concept in theory, but it need some work, I agree that hunger should deplete faster and that mobs should spawn in even lighter areas than usual, but the creepers not canceling exploding, that shouldn't be implemented for a reason, for one, that would make it almost impossible to kill them with a sword, and if they explode without a chance to stop, they will immediately die and not be a challenge anymore. This is a good idea, but it would need more features and a bit more work.
