Well I mentioned the gravel idea to add more realism. But yeah, I guess it would annoy a lot of people.
Dead bushes could drop few sticks, and maybe when you place 9 sticks in 3x3 crafting box, you can get one block of planks?
About the leather armor, I had in mind that leather is actually more lighter in weight and fabric than diamond or iron, so it will not add additional heat when you stand outside (you would still loose half a heart, but no more than that). I'm thinking, wearing other kind of armor or no armor at all could cause you loose full heart every 3 seconds, between 11am and 1 pm like you mentioned. I like the idea about colors too.
Hm, when I have some time to type, I'll have to add a bunch of these.
Yes, this should be implemented right away!
And for people don't complain, add tropical biomes, with plentiful water, sand and palm tress, only in coastal areas.
I like this idea, but I don't think wells should be the only source of water in the desert, water should just be more rare.

When will Minecraft stop updating? When pigs fly over the frozen plains of hell, twice in a blue moon, while Taylor Swift sings a song called, "Maybe I'm the Problem".
Deserts are actually not wastelands. There is plenty of life in them, we just dont often see it IRL, as it comes out at night, so maybe, things grow a little better at night, maybe the occasional flash flood that keeps the plants alive? I like the idea of an oasis biome, it would add some nice contrast. As for the snow storms, I think they should be in the Ice Plains rather than the Taiga, as the latter strikes me as more of a temperate biome, with more trees, whereas the Ice Plains are almost totally bare, which suggests lower temperatures.

Your brain is so powerful, it would take a state of the art computer the size of a factory to come even close to matching the processing power.
Living in the Sonoran desert, I can tell you deserts look nothing like what you're suggesting.
But I agree, deserts should look different.
I'm not saying I'm going for realism -- this is a game where we have fungi cows, after all. I'm just going for something that I think would be interesting in the game.
Um... no. Biomes shouldn't just suddenly 'disappear'. Rivers are perfectly fine as they are. Rivers, after all, do run through deserts. Take the Nile River, Murray River, Darling River, etc.
Why do people keep talking about deserts being huge? I have no evidence that in real life deserts are any larger than other biomes. In fact, a quick peak at a world map shows that desert is probably be the least common biome.
Anyway, I like the idea of getting rid of most water in deserts. The river technical biomes should still exist though (the Nile for example). Then, to help make deserts still fun, a new technical biome could be added called oasis. It forms a small pond, allows trees to grow and spawns some mobs (cows/pigs/etc). If Mojang wanted to created a new type of tree just for oasis (like a palm tree which could be used in other biomes, too), that's cool, but not necessary in my opinion.
Like PatDay above me said, I don't really want deserts to be bigger. They shouldn't be bigger than every other biome, and besides, no matter how big they are, you're still going to have the sudden change from desert to jungle. I support this otherwise, though.
