minecraft could have dlcs that are free one could be space exploration, old western, medieval, modern, apocolypse, fantasy, under water, sea exploration, horror, and more

I'd just like to say that guns are well within the tech of minecraft and within Steve's imaginative grasp.
That being said,if guns being added makes this game an fps than it already is because we have bows.
If they add guns they should be different from bows,not just stronger.This way it actually changes game play instead of just adding another hurdle to jump on the path to getting the strongest gear.

My concern with guns and crossbows is that they take away from the challenge of combat. The bow already seems slightly overpowered already, given you can kill mobs while out of their sight range.
I wish Jeb would hurry up with modding API so those who want guns could download weapon mods like balkons or SDKs with ease.

If they were implemented properly, then they might work. We couldn't have anything more advanced than basic flintlocks, obviously, or it'd turn into Modern Minefare.

This game has jukeboxes, music discs, and pistons; none of which existed "in the past." Plus, not all guns are modern-day AK-47's. Guns have been around for quite a long time.

Well, in some ways I do agree. The bow does a lot of damage from far away, though its not too effective at low-mid and closer. Possibly a slight decrease to charge speed and/or the damage increased per charge would help. However, I don't think that automatically excludes guns from being workable. There are many different things that could be done to keep them fair. One I'm in favour of is a vision obscuring smoke effect when fired (doubling as a visual indicator of where the shot came from) and drawing the attention of all mobs in a radius.
