anyway, a message to all gun haters: What if it were a crossbow that behaved the EXACT SAME WAY!? You would probably support it 100%.
They already support a bow and arrow that has a rate of fire similar to a Submachine gun, I don't see why they can't stand the thought of a flintlock musket.
Exactly. If it were a crossbow, everyone would be all over this, completely supporting it in every way.
Also, get this: The first arquebus was made in the 1400's. If minecraft DOES have a time period, it is past that, considering the fact that we have powered minecarts and TNT, which was invented in the 1800's.
some of the recent posts gave me an idea. now i'm all for guns in minecraft, but i lack the skill to add anything more complicated than a texture pack, let alone something like SDK's gun mod. while I think modern guns would not fit in minecraft i think aquerbuses would be a good idea.
seeing as there is so much hate being directed towards the gun idea why not make it a crossbow instead and then get/make a texturepack that makes it look like a gun? just a sugestion.

doesnt mean people should have to splice their ****ing jar file to have some realistic and useful content in the game (plus the people who dont wanna mod in general) there no reason there shouldnt be older guns in the game but guns like sdk's are pushing it but for all the people that are against guns we have an smg bow and arrow and now with the new update an arrow auto turret

You don't have to, the installation is very easy,you just extract the contents of the zip/rar of the mods and modloaders required to run them and leave them alone for a while. Then patch your game with whatever fancy textures you want using Xau's MCPatcher, if you don't do this, you will not have animated water if your texture is 32X32 or bigger. IF you want to keep the textures vanilla, okay whatever, then open your minecraft.jar, it can be opened with winzip or 7zip, I love 7zip, it's entirely free, anyhow just delete metainf, and then from the .rar and zip you previously opened drag and drop the modloaders required to run the mods you want. After you drag and dropped the modloaders unto the minecraft.jar close it or go a folder up (we'll get back to it don't worry). Start up minecraft, if you deleted the metainf properly and drag and dropped the modloaders properly you should be able to play it like nothing, remember to close it when you decide to actually install the mods! Next find the minecraft.jar again and now you install the mods using the drag and drop method again. After you install the mods this time you fully close the program you used to open the .jar entirely and then proceed to play modcraft. It's not rocket science, you just have to follow instructions. But if your just against modding on principle, then whatever, there are some games I love being vanilla, so I sort of understand.

Ye old minegunner features a shoddily made stone flintlock which can break at any moment when using, an iron and wood made flintlock , a diamond encrusted 6 shooter pepper box that only does half as much damage as the iron flintlock but has six shots and blunder buss. Also all of these weapons have varying durability levels and they must be maintained or their effectiveness goes down, specially on the diamond six shooter.If you decide to not maintain your guns and the durability goes down enough the damn thing blows up in your face. Now of course this much weaponry is too much for a common mob to handle, which is why it's advised to use along with Mo Creatures and Humans +.

i was saying that for the people who dont wanna use mods but be able to use guns they shouldnt have to mod to do it and the sdk's mod thing wasnt just a reply to you but just a statement of general fact
I don't see why everyone is against guns. It could simply be something like a bow that shoots only 33% as fast does 4 damage a shot, and has bullets that are less affected by gravity.

He never changed thename. It was most likely assumed that it was gunpowder and Notch never bothered to point it. That's why Netherstone was "changed" to Netherrack. It was always Netherrack, we just had no way to know that until now.
anyway, I still support these old guns. The arquebus, or even a musket, is pretty time-period accurate, considering the fact that we have TNT, powered minecarts, and "electrical" wiring.
Let's say I am in a duel against my evil-self.
I have the Arquebus, and my evil-twin has the bow and arrow.
We are 30 tiles away from each other, jumping and juking everywhere to avoid fire.
We are both unarmored.
Say that my evil-self fires a volley of 10 at me and three of them hit. I take 6 damage.
I return fire with the Arquebus, and luckily I hit. It does 5 damage.
We're nearly even as far as the damage we've dealt and received.
But guess who has to stand-still to fumble through the inventory to reload, and guess who can fire another 10 arrows in a single second.
Guess who can retrieve all the ammunition that missed and use it again without having to manage their inventory.
Let's say we're on a flat plane and I begin firing at my evil-twin as soon as they are at 70 tiles.
The first shot hits, and deals 2 damage.
I reload, and my evil twin moves continuously at 7 tiles/second, and is now 35 tiles away. They are well within the range to use their bow. But let's say for this duel they forgot their bow, and are charging me with their diamond ho.
I fire another shot, and it does 5 damage. 2 shots from the arquebus, and they are not dead.
I reload, but before I am finished my evil-self has already gotten to me.
See what I'm hinting at?
The Arquebus is not a standalone weapon or direct-combat weapon. It is more of a defensive, fortification, or tactical-use type of weapon.
good sir you have how many inventory slots? howmany guns could you hold at one
redo your test but that you fire and switch to your next gun.

I'm somewhat tempted to copy paste the OP but replace all instances of 'arquebus' and 'gun' and 'firearm' with 'crossbow', 'crossbow', 'crossbow'.
