EDIT: the pistol would be single shot, and have a reload period of 600ms or 0.6 seconds, also both the high-powered and the regular rifle would take 950ms (0.95 seconds), and I decided to edit the crafting recipe for the firearms' ammo symbols: P= paper, G=gunpowder, I=iron ingot, 0=nothing
pistol ammo:
0 I 0
0 G 0
0 P 0
now it will only yield 4 cartridges instead of six
rifle ammo:
0 I 0
0 G 0
P G P
still would only yield 3 rifle cartridges
high-powered rifle ammo:
P I P
G G G
0 P 0
this would yield 3 high-powered rifle cartridges like before
Amazing work. However, I think that they would be better if they had a somewhat longer reload time, and did more damage. They could be similar to M&B's crossbows, or M&B:FaS's arquebuses in that way.

what do you mean by a longer reload time, I mean I wanted to make the firearms add on like a step up in the spectrum of ranged weapons, like how they did a step up in personal transportation with the whole pig to horse thing for the new way to get around, also I guess the max I would say is acceptable for reload is 1050ms or 1.05 seconds, because it take 1200ms or 1.2 seconds to fully charge a bow, and for damage I think for the base damage it should be enough and as you enchant you could get up to the desired 17.5 hearts, but I'm glad you seem to have some positive critque for it, unlike how my other thread derailed with negative incoherent arguments. I'm beginning to wonder if the people that hate guns in minecraft are the people that hate guns in real life, because both make horrible arguments against both
I mean I wanted to make the firearms add on like a step up in the spectrum of ranged weapons
If I understand you correctly, you're saying guns should be superior to bows. I disagree. I feel that they should be sidegrades. Using the famous M&B/M&B:WB mod, tEaTRC, as an example, I'll outline what I mean. In tEaTRC, the firearms are usually two or three-hit kills whereas bows are usually five or six-hit kills, but they reload slowly and are less accurate, and crossbows are more accurate and deadly than either, but insanely heavy and slow.
I know everybody wants this to be a alternative to bows, but I feel, that guns would be way to hard to make resource friendly, so we should at least get a bonus for that.
But you could have them crafted from, for example, flint and steel with some iron and wood, and fire iron ammo. It wouldn't be much more expensive that way.

-explanation for crafting recipes
use this crafting square labeling chart to help understand what I'm saying, each number corrosponds to a slot on a crafting table
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
handgun: slot 1 is barrel, slot 2 is the chamber and loading area (user lifts up a latched hatch and puts a cartridge in chamber), slot 3 is the hammer that ignites cartridge, slots 4,5 and six are frame and trigger system, slots 6 and 9 are the grip, and slot 7 is the ramrod for loading the cartridge
arquebus: slot 3 is the percussion hammer firing mechanism, slot 4 is the barrel, slots 5 and 6 are the housing area for the chamber and firing area, slot 7 is the ramrod for loading, and slots 8 and 9 are the actual stock
rifle/high-powered rifle: barrel recipe should be fairly easy to interpret as why it is what it is, the explanation for the reciver's recipe is as follows, slots 1 is for added support from high pressures of cartridge, slot 2 is a hinged piece that is lifted, the user then loads a cartridge into the chamber, slot 3 is the firing mechanism, slot 4 is the trunnion and chamber, as well as end that attaches to barrel, slot 5 is the mid part of reciever that houses the internal firing mechanisms, it is a block of material so it can handle the large pressures that the cartridge produce, slot 6 is the stock attachment part and rear part of reciever, and slot 8 is for the trigger, trigger guard and floor plate of reciever
stock: slot 4 is a hand guard on barrel, and slots 5 and 6 are the actual stock the houses barreled reciever
arquebus ammunition: this is to simulate the use of manuel loaded powder and balls which have been around since the 14th century since gunpowder first became popularized for use in war
handgun and rifle ammunition: these are to simulate paper cartridges, which were invented the late 14th century, and began having a use a entire replacement to loading muzzleloaders manually by about 1586, they were used in the 15th century heavily, but historians noted their extreme amount of usage in 1586, their craft should be sufficent explanation
argument for firearms (history lesson, kind of): this will be brief (I could write a book on all the reasons guns should be added and how it's absurd railroads and electricity (redstone) have been implemented while firearms have not), if you have any other comments, questions or concerns, just ask. anyway the argument for firearms is that they were invented in 13th century (chinese handcannon, the year is the 1200's for people that don't know how to use centuries), and paper cartridges came around the late 14th century (extreme use around 1586, became only way of shooting in the 1600's), although bows date back before recorded history, minecraft is not before recorded history, many of it's aspects condradict it's time period, like have bow and arrows, and tnt, as well as having stonebricks and what not. Anyway my biggest argument for it is self propelled rail transport which is was developed in britain in the 18th century then fully utilized and perfected for excellent use in the 19th century, minecarts themselves were invented in the 16th century though, but used wood everything and relied on gravitiy, self propelled minecarts came around 18th century. While muzzleloading firearms that use paper cartridges date back to the 14th century, then were perfected accuracy wise with the advent of rifling in 1520 by a german armourer named august kotter, then was perfected in the mid-16th century (1550's for people that don't know how to use century), so please condsider this seriously and do not say it is minecraft themed, guns were part of castles long before self propelled rail transport, these are not semi-automatic or fully automatic, they are muzzle loaded like the original, and are better than a bow, but keep in mind guns were found to be better than bows around the 14th century, these are not heavily better than a bow either, a bow can kill an un-armoured individual with one shot when properly enchanted just like how these guns can when properly enchanted.
historical record of guns and minecarts (breech loaded firearms that use paper cartridges like the 3 depicted in my idea (not including the arquebus) were made in 1704 while self-powered minecarts were made somewhere around 1804 to 1811):
-9th century, gunpowder was invented in china
-sculptures depicting handcannons were discovered, dating back to 12th century
-The De'an Shoucheng Lu, an account of the siege of De'an in 1132, records that Song forces used fire-lances against the Jurchens
-oldest surviving gun dates back to 1288
-13th century; gunpowder makes way to europe
-siege guns were used by the English at Calais in 1346
-late 14th century, portable smoothbore personal cannons were made, small enough to be classified as a personal firearm
-late 14th century, paper cartridges were developed (not always used due to the fact they had to be assembled off the battlefield due to tedious work)
-The Janissary corps of the Ottoman army adopted matchlock arms from Hungary gradually from the 1440s onwards
-The first dated illustration of a matchlock mechanism dates to 1475
-late 15th century, ottoman empire begins using firearms as part of it's regular infantry
-16th century, wood minecarts, and wood "rails" (beams cart rides on) began popping up in translyvania (used gravity and man-power)
-1520 german armourer develops rifling
-rifling perfected in mid 16th century
-1550 minecarts that ran on narrow gauge wooden tracks (3 foot wide track), and are operated by man-power and gravity, become popular
-1551 first steam turbine created by Taqi al-Din
-1586 paper cartridges were introduced on a global scale (not always used due to the fact they had to be assembled off the battlefield due to tedious work)
-Capo Bianco writes in 1597 that paper cartridges had long been in use by Neapolitan soldiers
-17th century, wooden wagonways on wooden rails begin popping up (for use in cities, not mines), none of which were self-propelled
-1610 flintlock firing mechanism introduced in france
-1650, breech loaded flintlocks developed (loaded on rear end, instead of pushed down by a rod from front or "muzzle")
-1698 first steam powered pump developed
-1704, Isaac de la Chaumette develops a much easier loading system for breech-loaded firearms (paper cartridge ones), system consisted of twisting a plug that then exposed chamber, and allowed user to load firearm with a new cartridge (system used by the rifle, high-powered rifle, and handgun depicted in my idea)
-1768, The first iron plate railway made with cast iron plates on top of wooden rails, was taken into use (kind used in minecraft, still no self propelled minecarts)
-1769 james watt steam engine was developed, was used for pumping water out of mines though, not power minecarts, still used rope systems, men, and animals for minecarts
-1770's breech-loading system was heavily improved and was much easier than the chaumette system
-1776 greatest country in the entire world gains independence from the most oppresive country at that time (joke, deal with it.jpeg)
-1780's steam engine sees widespread use for factories and machines, no minecart usage yet
-1784 William Murdoch, a Scottish inventor, built a prototype steam road locomotive (3 wheeled car basically) (not a self propelelled minecart yet)
-1804 first somewhat successful steam locomotive made and used, built by Richard Trevithick, but ended up breaking some of the brittle cast-iron plates during a small usage of it, not much usage afterwards
-In 1811, John Blenkinsop designed the first successful and practical railway locomotive (you could say this is when self propelled minecarts were made)
-1819, the M1819 Hall rifle was developed, the first mass produced and widespread breech-loaded musket
-In 1825, George Stephenson built the Locomotion for the Stockton and Darlington Railway, the first public railway system (england was only one really using railways, at this time, and had 3 railways by this time in the entire country)
-1830 first intercity railway introduced
-1845, .22 BB introduced (first metallic cartridge)
-by early 1850's britain had about 7,000 miles of railway
-1857, .22 short introduced
-1860, the high-powered cartridge called the .44 henry was introduced, and was used in the lever action henry model 1860
-through 1850-1890 america saw a massive growth in railway usage, which at it's peak was responsible for 1/3 of world's total rail mileage
as you can see firearms were made almost 2 centuries before minecarts, and were heavily developed even before self-propelled minecarts came around, in other words, you'd would be a fool to say firearms have no place in minecraft while self-powered minecarts do
I enjoy arguing and getting feedback so don't be afraid to rage, but I would prefer you use clear and consise reasons, and back it up with facts, if you say "well I don't want people sniping entire villages with assault rifles from 150 blocks away" because these have nothing to do with that kind of weaponry
I am talking about similar development-wise. No matter how much people ask for guns in TES, they will never be added.
Now redstone cannons, i wouldn t have a problem with those because they would be stationary (Therefore not OP) and would make for some intresting boat gameplay.
how are you so positive that guns will never be added, nobody thought apartheid would end in south Africa (lasted from 1948-1994), nobody knows what the future holds, you aren't mojang, you have no idea what they think of when they think of new ideas for minecraft
On a more serious note, just step back and think for a second, look at Mojang, they are not that type of developer, they never add any more violence than what is already in the game.
it's not adding more violence it's adding a better combat feature for the game (they are trying to add a more combat feel to it, remember those combat mechanic upgrades they did), not only would it help keep a settlement better defended against mobs, it would help a richer player (in single or multi) to upgrade their equipment, instead of hoarding resources they don't need anymore, also look at the idea I suggested (it's above your post) and take a good look at the historical record of firearms and self propelled minecarts that ride on iron rails, if you decide it doesn't fit into the medieval theme of minecraft (medieval ages were 5th century to 15th century, then renaissance era occurred, which were then proceeded by colonial)
you may not see it as violence but think of the average low IQ parent as soon as they find out Minecraft has guns, that's a hell of a lot of people gunna get banned from Minecraft by their parents.
Also, guns will completley ruin the feel of Minecraft, it's just.....peaceful.
Imagine enjoying a nice day when *BANG* *BANG* *POP* *BANG*
most parents let their kids play cowa dooty and what not, I highly doubt they'll care if some game with no gore or blood has guns in it, if you look at the idea I had you'll see the gun is not a point and shoot, it does have a velocity like an arrow
how are they horrible? remember when bows were full auto. explain how the ones I suggested could be completely horrible, can't say people come and shoot me dead. nobodies saying you can't have one too, and they most certainly aren't going to be handed out

No different then hearing tnt, creepers, or the scream of endermen going off in the distance, minecraft is only peaceful when its set to peaceful. Besides that it's a living hell.
And theres your typical person who knows nothing about guns, or the art of debating for that matter. Whats more horrible? dying instantly from a bullet, or being stabbed by a blade, pincushioned by arrows, and then bleeding out on the floor? And if you really want to get a point across don't generalize.
I'm glad you see this issue from a logical standpoint anyway, what is your view on the idea the preceeds these posts, that I had suggested in this thread, it should be under guns 1.1, I'd like some honest feedback on it, but as you can see, idiots sometimes slip into this thread

Hmmm I have to say that if anything it is extremely well thought out, and even though I personally would like to see all of those types of firearms added the only thing that would ever have a chance of being added would be the arquebus, or at least something like it. personally I would kill for a Lee Enfield Mk II.

haha, I think they should too, for instance if they ever make the civilization craft a reality for single player (search it if you have no idea what I'm talking about), it would be cool to have an evolution of weaponry in minecraft like in the real world; arquebus to flintlock, flintlock to breech-loaded musket, breech-loaded to single shot cartridge, single shot to lever action, and so on, as minecraft has evolved and like any game once you reach a maximum, I.E all perfectly enchanted diamond everything, built a city, beatiful house, massive farm, conquered all bosses, it leaves you longing for more, desiring to be able to dominate more, and be stronger. So I think my idea would be a great starter for firearms and maybe open the door for bigger and better arms

It would be nice to have a system like that, considering that there isn't a whole lot to do in survival.
exactly! too many people here are being overly and unnecessarily conservative on the development of minecraft, in the sense they think it has reached it's climax, it's peak, or apex. Even though minecraft itself and the developers are extremely liberal, as they do not promote conformity or preservation of the old, they are constantly changing minecraft and are always looking for changes. People need to realize minecraft will never be finished
I was presenting a contracted version Anon's argument, because many people on here seem to be unable to read even a paragraph.

Hmmm I have to say that if anything it is extremely well thought out, and even though I personally would like to see all of those types of firearms added the only thing that would ever have a chance of being added would be the arquebus, or at least something like it.
personally I would kill for a Lee Enfield Mk II.

It would be nice to have a system like that, considering that there isn't a whole lot to do in survival.
