Alright, I REALLY enjoy making redstone traps.
- The 1.3 Tripwires was a blessing.
So! I think the next step in trapping could involve breaking down some iron ingots into spikes that can be dispersed from a dispenser via grounded, and/or rope material crafted together for a net product.
The net could be useful for holding a player/mob in position for a fixed ammount of time needed for redstone ticks to circuit to where ever need-be; could also be despended with a further range as a projectile.
The net could also be used to fish.. Fish! Or any other aquatic sea creature that could make the water a little more, challenging!
The spikes can be fun to play around with and the net would have to only hold human players for maybe 2 seconds to avoid cheap kills. Otherwise +1 support.

"There are only 3 things that are infinite: The universe, human stupidity, and the amount of creepers per world."
Spikes were not only suggested hundreds of times, they were also on their way to becoming a featur ein adventure mode, maybe they still are. All I can say is that these have been suggested. A lot.
