One of the main purposes of beacons, aside from VERY short powers, is to be a...well...beacon!
Therefor, beacons should render from further away. You don't have to go all that far before the light
dissapears. You should be able to see it VERY far away, probably anywhere within your block
rendering distance.
*Only* a distance of 256 on normal render distance. It's not bad, really, and it makes servers look a little cleaner. You could always set up a series of beacons, you know.
If you're referring to bacon, though... then yes, I agree. I should be able to see bacon from any place on the world map, no matter where it is.
I'm going to be using beacons as a part of my Redstone steam-dynamos. They will wirelessly transmit data to other sectors of my city.
