In 1.4, there will be Zombies with new weapons, whether is swords to cut us apart, axes to remove our limbs, or shovels to beat us silly with. But skeletons, all they get are some fancy new clothes. Well, what if some skeletons spawned with throwing potions instead of bows? Keeps the old "ranged mob" concept, but instead harms the player more and helps his allies more. I'm not sure what potions exactally these boneheads will throw, but its an idea that popped in my head, and I thought I'd pin it here.
Do you guys this this would be a good idea?
Update:
Well after getting some feed back, I have a small list of what potions the skeletons would throw.
-Poison: Undead and Spiders are immune to it's effects, possibly make it so skeletons would spawn with a 3% chance or so with these potions.
-Weakness: It makes all things in the potions splash radius become weaker, maybe not the best potion to use.
-Harming: Heals undead, while still harming spiders. Maybe a 25% chance of skeletons spawning with them.
I'd be fine with them throwing potions of harming, they should attempt to throw them near the feet of players or injured zombies to heal them, or accidentally hitting a creeper to make a record.

I'm currently accepting applications for a private, vanilla server. If you are interested, you can check it out here.
Perhaps, the potion can sometimes be a "dud" and simply drop onto the floor as an item you could pick up.
This could make a legit way to get Potions before the Nether, albeit a slow, impractical and weak way.
This is actually a pretty cool idea.
I think they should only throw one type of potion, that is, skeletons cannot throw multiple different types of potions, but different skeletons can have different types. Also they throw potions at a slower rate than they shoot bows.
Types they should throw could be: instant harming, poison, weakness, slowness and possibly blindness, nausea, hunger and mining fatigue when they are released. All the negative ones, in other words.

I love the feedback guys! Keep it coming!

An interesting thought...
I have mixed feelings about that one. Hmm, maybe if they only do this on rare occasions.
