We need hinges. Even if they only had two ore three positions it could adda lot of diversity to traps, security, and redstone stuff. maybe an axis for rotating parts would be nice too.
I've thought of this myself actually. I was thinking the wheel itself for an axle would be crafted one of two ways.
Either way I depicted this as the Wheel and Axle, and the material can either be Wood, Cobblestone, or Iron. I figured it would work by placing it on the ground and connecting it to blocks. You attach the blocks you want to spin on the axle and then your done. Now the spinning, that would be interesting. I think a good way to do it is to have the axle spin as long as there is a redstone current. So if the redstone current was there for 1 second it would make a 90 degree turn, if for 4 seconds a 360 degree turn, etc. I really don't know about haveing blocks diagonal and such though. I might have to look into that.
Next would be a hinge. A hinge could be crafted with three vertical sticks and six wood blocks on the rest of the grid (I don't feel like taking another picture). When it is crafted it can be placed on a wall or the ground. It will look perfectly flat, but when a redstone current is ran through the hing any objects connected to the hinge will be moved 90 degrees. This will also reveal the hinges on both the base block and the moved block.
Now I have just one concern and that is what would happen when a block on the Wheel and Axle/Hinge hits a stationary block? I think it should be broken, that way no glitches can occur.
Opinion?
