Keep in mind the thread I made a while back showed most people only wanted a handful of dragons on their servers, let alone tamed ones. Part of the reason dragons are so captivating in lore is their rarity, along with their power. This was shown to be true when most people voted for balance for tamed dragons, yet didn't appear to mind having the wild ones attempt to melt face right away.
This would also lead me to believe that fire would be the most popular for the likely reason of its portrayal as the "original" dragon. Medium dragons were also supported in the poll, as opposed to those that were more akin to the massive size of the Enderdragon. Also, as mentioned earlier that I would prefer the wyvern model from Mo'Creatures this option happened to tie with the smaller dragons with larger wingspans, more proportionate limbs, and spaded tails. Nobody seemed to want a copy-pasted, smaller version of the Enderdragon that was slightly smaller. They all wanted something new. A new model, and more actions from the dragons that what the current, sole dragon in Minecraft has.
Just some food for thought. However, another thing to keep in mind is that the devs may prefer your current dragon model (much to the lament of some) since it requires the least work required to produce or modify. However, I'd still support you finding someone who knows quite a bit about coding to give you some pointers in terms of what would be the easiest thing to do. Just a short rant from me.
I think controls should be:
[SPACE] elevate, must be going forward to work, so as to make it natural
[SHIFT] decelerates/ slowly dives, either that, or lifts up a bit and "hovers" while slowly descending
[<] veer left
[>] veer right
[v] nose dive, does damage to rider and dragon if they face-plant, but can be used to do damage to enemies. VERY FAST.
[^] swiftly raises chin, draogn flies up, with more of a spit.
*Note- the mouse doesn't control the dragon, but changes you're orientation, so you can see behind you.
dragon has half the health of ender dragon, so it's not that hard to kill.
[F] uses breath fire ability. Small orange bar on screen shows how much 'charge' is left on said ability.
Doing [D] will bring up the dragon's GUI, which has a food intake system, and if dragon armor and saddle was implemented, would have slots for those as well. If right clicked with a chest, like a donkey, the dragon could carry items, but just that of one chest. Also, a bar would be there to put in food for a dragon. For instance, you could put a line of stacks of steak in the bar, and the dragon would instantly use the food it needs. Each food article would have a value, so it replenishes the dragon's energy a certain amount.- rotten flesh does work.

Thanks for this. I think personally it should be this:
[SPACE] Fire.
[SHIFT] Acelerates. After accelerating for a long period of time, the dragon will go slowr than average.
[/\] Turn upward, decelerating a little.
[\/] Turn downward, increasing speed. Hitting the ground will cause you and the dragon to take fall damage, and you will fall off your dragon.
[<] Turn left.
[>] Turn right.
[MOUSE] Player orientation.
[E] Dragon inventory.
[HEALTH] Replaced with dragon health.
[FOOD BAR] Also replaced with dragon health, so the dragon hearts don't extend upward on your screen.
[XP BAR] Replaced with dragon fire. Kind of like an over heating bar, if you breath fire for too long, it takes a longer time to charge up again.
I'm trying to think how to make this better, without removing the model, riding, and fire breathing.
To tell the truth it would be very hard to kill someone while on a dragon, as you can only do it with a bow and you are moving. Also, the dragon fire has little use, and if you crash you will get hurt.
Also, I'm thinking of adding dragons attacking you randomly. The fire they breathe wouldn't burn blocks on easy, tey would burj n slowly on normal, and normal fire spread on hqrd. On peaceful dragones would spawn but woudn't attack you randomly.
I like your suggestion. The only thing I would say bad about is I think the dragon lairs are too small, perhaps make them larger for an actual dragon to fit inside.

Thank you. About the lairs, they actually can fit the dragon inside, but I will make them bigger.
I support as long as you remove bieng able to lfy on them. You can tame the hatchlings, but they dont grow larger than a cow if tammed. They are similar to wolves but do more dmg and have more hp. Otherwise, no support

There's no point or fun in a dragon that you can't tame. I admit, I have been lazy in editing the thread, but I do have plans.
Still, even now it would be impossible to hit someone with a sword, and it would be hard to hit someine with a bow. The fire is just a smaller fire attack. If someone wants to grief with the dragon, then nothing can really stop them, just like flint and steel. Plugins can also stop dragon fire.

but there is a dragon already in minecraft...
