Right now books only have a one-off use. After that you either have to return it or make a new one. This is really only good for adventure maps. Many people were hoping for books to distribute info. Things such as rule books.
My idea is to allow this by adding another tier of books called the published book. The published book doesn't store its contents as extra data (like an enchantment) but instead stores it in a file like maps. That way with commands you can obtain more for uses in servers.
To craft a published book you craft 3 book and quills with a written book. You get 4 published books. All of them have the exact same contents as the written book.
I don't know if this is possible but the published book might be able to have a cover when you read it with a 32x32 picture.

Oh wait! There is!
Why not just use this system to clone books instead of adding a new item and a new file storage system?
Because of the fact that if all books are destroyed then the book has to be re-made all over again. Also, this allows servers with a shop system to sell books easier through something like an admin shop. Plus, for admins it may be faster to type /give [Published Book ID] 3 than to pull out written books through creative and find a copy of the book.
