I've been searching around in the ubuntu forums when I noticed that players were having a problem with their minecraft installs. Apparently they are experiencing very sticky keys due to minecrafts lwjgl libraries like 'jinput.jar, lwjgl.jar, and lwjgl_util.jar' all being out of date. Now, I don't know the downsides to this upgrade (sadly) but isn't mojang supposed to be solving these kinds of bugs? Anyways, I haven't happened to have these problems myself (But I wouldn't considering I don't own a ubuntu or any form of linux...yet>:D) but maybe this should be looked into.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who has this problem. I'm on Ubuntu 12.10. The disadvantages of programming in java language, I guess.
Yeah, I am running Ubuntu 12.04 now and I ended up just downloading the newer ljwjgl files and replacing the ones used in minecraft. It's a good idea, and you basicly NEED to do that in technic or else you wont be able to get past the id selection section.
