I've got, yet again, another idea for Minecraft. I've had it for a while. Vampires! Vampires are harder to kill then zombies. They are aggressive mobs. Zombies are afraid of vampires, they run when they see one. But the vampire chases it and kills it. Now there are two of them! It's kind of like how creepers are afraid of cats.
Vampires act like zombies. They walk around, and when they see you they start coming for you. They walk faster then you can, but you can sprint faster then they can walk. They are invulnerable unless you have a steak in hand. With one hit with steak you can kill one. Otherwise you can lead them to bright light to catch them on fire. One last choice: Water. You can lead vampires into water, or you can simply right click on one with a water bottle.
Every night, two starter vampires spawn. They start searching for zombies, and that's how they reproduce. It is possible to make vampires go extinct for one night, but the next night they re-evolve.
There are several flaws to this. It doesnt make sense that only two spawn. I think they shouldnt attack zombies, and dont infect them. Also, how would you make stake? Would it be a stick? Does it have durrability? They are too easy to kill. They need to be harder. When I hear vampire I think boss zombie.
So you might want to change it.
hm... a nice concept. Why not take it a step further?
Every time one bites you, it has a chance of 'infecting' you and turning you into a vampire. And when that happens, you have to avoid light, water, ect, and try to find a cure. But while you're a vampire you have nightvision, and can walk fast.
Wouldn't using a steak on a vampire make them stronger? Steak is meat after all, and meat has blood.
Unless you mean stake, the wooden spike thing...
Also, they seem pretty crap as a hostile mob. Sure they move faster than you, but they also kill off all the zombies and are killed by light, water and meat (or a stick or whatever), which makes them incredibly easy to dispatch.

Thanks for the extra ideas. I think that the cure would have to do with brewing or a bucket of milk.
Also, vampires should only spawn in hard or hardcore.
Two vampires spawn in a world. This is because vampires can multiply by killing zombies.
