I would love to see coral added to the game. Along with kelp that could grow the same way reeds do. I think this could really bring the oceans and seas to life. mabye you could use the different corals for dyes and the kelp for sushi or somthing. Only thing is it could not replace the water block but have to co exist with it, other wise it would look bad and be too easy to get air from it.
Yes Kelp. I'm building an underwater city, and its not very interesting to look outside right now.
Basically, kelp would have to be a new kind of water block, with a different texture and the ability to grow vertically. Kelp would have to be "planted" by replacing a water block (stream or source) that has sand or dirt underneath and no air blocks on the sides. If kelp replaced a water source, it would act as a water source, if kelp replaces a stream block, it will act as a stream block of the same strength.
Kelp could grow upwards to any height, but it would always have to replace a water block and the light level must be 5 or greater. Kelp blocks would have to attenuate light, and entering a kelp block would consume oxygen just like other water blocks.
And how about some fish mobs?!
