Fear the reaper. THERE IS A SMALL CHANCE: Whenever your health drops to one half heart, and it stays there for more than a minute, you have a problem. You are destined to die. If you escape death, death will come looking for you. Every minute, the reaper will spawn directly behind you and if allowed to follow you for thirty seconds, kills you with its scythe. It makes no noise walking. If you notice it before the thirty seconds, it disappears when your pointer is over it. You are in a predicament. The only way to kill the reaper is to set up a trap for it. TNT will work nicely. Good luck.
I'm in love. Add some kinda effed up screamer noise if (or when) it gets you and you've got THE best horror monster. Evar.
How about rather changing the name of fire sprites to will-o-wisps or make them like fire sprites except not as aggressive.
You have given me an idea. I added Will 'o the Wisps and the Forest Spirit as beneficial mobs. They would be a refreshing other side to mobs.
Anybody have ideas for other beneficial mobs? Don't go too overpowered.

faerie**
Friendly, stationary, solo spawning 'mob'. When touched it replenishes all lost HP
size: floating 1 block above ground; 1x1
That's pretty much what Will 'o The Wisp is.
:ohmy.gif:
hm...how about this then:
Dwarf Smith
semi-aggressive, solo spawning, 'mob'. 75% chance encountering one will repair your armor or weapons (1 item to max per visit) 25% chance dwarf is 'having a bad day', will then become aggressive and camper-ish. no drop when slain. face turns red when aggressive, 6 hp, deals 1 dmg per hit. (not dangerous, but why kill him?)
it could totally drop another air bubble, either replenishing your current supply or it could add on to give you another second of air (this would probably make them a bit rarer)
the mysterious-
Odd silhouetted humanoids that float around the islands, semi aggressive. Their rare, and always spawn in packs of 4
hp:
50 (25 hearts)
weapon:
diamond crossbow, they shoot you with this for 5 damage, 6 on hard and 4 on easy. These arrows are better than the skeles.
Movement:
they come in squads and are protective of each other, if one loses too much hp, another come in his place to attack. They also tend to strafe while firing, making them REAL dangerous. They also move by hovering, they hover 1 tile above the ground and can scale terrain with ease. They don't give chase to those who run.
Aggressiveness:
moderate, they only attack if you attack them, they often follow players curiously, like their observing. (They avoid getting in the way)
drop?
They drop a special obsidian armor when killed that allows immunity to lava, one peice of it. (this armor is as resistant as leather armor normally). The armor's effects go away when damaged off. Each member has 1 piece of the armor, so if ya wanna make the most out of it, you got to kill all 4.
were they can be found-
floating islands
deep caves

its a special obsidian armor that make you immune to damage from lava. Their also quite agile, and another will take the other's place to attack when the other one is low on hp, an the other 3 try to hit you still!

Meaning 4 people focus on the current one, until they are all dead. Like so:
Bill is with Ted, Jill, and Bob. They attack the mysterious. The group focuses on one, when it switches with another, making one of the enemies near death. Continuing in this manner, they whittle down the group until they get to the first one. They kill it easily, since it's near death, and do the same for the rest.
Thinking some more, wasn't there a boss in Metal Slug 3 that was like this? It had 4 to a group and fired lasers at you. When one was damaged enough, it switched out. When one died, the rest got faster.
edit:Holy ****, you're that guy that said he would be feared in all of multiplayer and was called egotistic.

Ya, maybe the mysterious attack more faster and give more chase when you kill more of their party, maybe even getting more "desprate" in how they fight, like avoiding you attacks more. as they die off.
Their meant to be real hard to kill, put it like this:
if you were to make 4 mysterious fight one mega beast, the mysterious would always win.
the mysterious individually aren't (real) tough, its the fact they come in squads and are tactical.

And now: waterspiders
As for Dwarf Smith, I don't really like the idea of overtly sentient humanoid beings. This seems also like NPC interaction, the idea of I also, sorry, don't really like. Water-spiders, meh.

As with before, I don't really like the idea of overtly sentient humanoids, especially those using tools/weapons/armour. I think I have something else in mind, though... CHECK ISLAND SECTION
The entire strange silhouette motif is cool though. Maybe some sort of group of spirits or energy beings or some-such.

They should be silhouettes and their prescience would spawn monsters and put the fog on high.
