Theres one big thing I hate when making a new world and thats finding a good place to build. Theres either a cave, ravine (omfg ravines all over the place!! ) or speckled ground because a cave is too close to the surface.
And this applys to ALL worlds I generate.
reduce the chances of finding surface caves, make ravines as rare as villages if not more so (remove completely if you like no one likes them any way.)
while your at it also remove all 'ponds' that are smaller than a real life kidie pool, theres way too many ponds any way.
this is more a rant than a true suggestion but still.

Really? Considering there's a ravine on the other side of this house, I'd say that every one of my bases is built on flat ground.
Integrate the terrain into your build; if there's a ravine separating two flat pieces of land, make a bridge across the canyon and build on either side. This house in the distance was created completely by me in mid-air.
I hate surface caves and ravines too. They're spammed everywhere. I would rather have epic mountains than annoying surface caves.
I've seen several, but they aren't "spammed", and they're all in epic hills biomes, which are the "mining" biomes if you will, so doesn't it make sense to have open caves in a mining biome?

hey I love the crazy terrain of extreme hills but I want my plains to be smooth, not full of holes. (And because I know some moron is going to comment that plains arnt meant to be super flat;) I dont mind that it fluctuate thats natrual. what isnt is all the freaking holes in the ground.
@Epicness, I would rather them just be removed they was a bad idea to start with, much like the endermen's block stealing ability.

You realize that image you posted has from best I can tell 3 ponds in it?
besides I could easly get a image of a seemingly smooth holeless area if I put my back to a ravine.
But even that im not saying such areas dont exist in legit.
It didnt really bother me before I started using mods, but now that iv played with mods such as TerraFirmaCraft (where the terrain is compleatly redone and greatly improved on) I can see just how jacked up the terrain is.
Also caves by comparison are also super boring.

I guess, I mean heck, it can be annoying to not be able to build a gigantic mansion in a plane properly because of the ... rough terrain, but then again, that's what the superflat is kind of for? Isn't it? Besides, if your building in survival, most of your time will be spent mining/fighting/sleeping/eating?/crafting/doing-what-ever-ing so your house won't really be that big. But I guess thats just me.
No... building big things in survival mode takes a lot of time, and since it IS in survival mode, it's more of an accomplishment.

That's funny, because there aren't that many holes in the plains I've been in...
